The club will understand this as well as anybody. You’d expect them to be pulling out the stops and doing everything they can to prevent it - yet from the outside the club resembles a ghost ship, sailing serenely towards oblivion with nobody even steering.

Maybe appearances are deceptive and there’s a lot going on behind the scenes. I bloody hope so.
