So who believes in God,

Though Im an arch atheist, I will say that a dollop of christian values wouldn't go a miss. Thing is, even the christians use them selectively.

Don’t get me started on the fuckers who spout their bollocks through a PA system outside stations or on the high street, or walk through a train doing the same.

If I want to learn about a religion and sign up I’ll read a book or two and go to a place of worship. I don’t need it when I’m half asleep on the daily commute into work or heading home, thank you very much.

What values do you consider as Christian, and which are 'used' selectively?
Well, most, but the few devout christians will bend the Lords rules a little, if it is financially viable, or takes a little effort out of any given task. But, the fundamentals of being kind, and respectful are a good place to start from. But, its worth remembering that it wasnt always thus. They used to hunt down and persecute “heretics”, pagans, and the like. The catholics, especially, massacred millions. Over the centuries, the book and its interpretation have been, thankfully”, dumbed down, leaving a lovable old white man with a beard, who wants to be your imaginary friend. Christianity is I believe, 750-1000 years older than Islam, which has yet to “modernise”, leaving it still a death cult manual. We wont see the day it does.

Christian means old and new testament.
In the early chapters of genesis, Ur is killed by god for an unspecified reason and then his brother is killed by god, because he refuses his dads request to impregnate his deceased brothers wife.
Kind and respectful...

As I said Sixy. They changed their mind and re purposed it for each new generation. Christianity is benign.

I don't think that Christian-based institutions and the UK Christian Establishment are at all benign.
Just a personal opinion though...

Read Richard Dawkins, Chris Hitchings, Sam Harris, Daniel Dennet.
Then read John Lennox, Alister McGrath, and other imminent Christian Scientists and Theologians.
Lots to learn.
That's if you're really interested of course.

You don't need religion to have food morals and values. When early societies started living together they developed acceptable behaviours and norms without books and blokes in frocks telling them what to do.

Well there's a thing.
A confident guy who KNOWS exactly what went on with people 1000s of years ago. Even tho he wasn't around.

No .. I don't believe in any god at all. I do know that many people are killed in the name of god which is a tad worrying ..

So, the good book. Are we meant to take it literally, or are the stories within, a representation? I worked with a rare practicing christian on a building site. Had to admire him for his commitment. They arent the most reverent places, to express religious views. He believed that a 220 year old man, and his two sons, really did build a ship, in wood, in a desert, that cannot possibly remain intact, whilst floating, never mind floating in the most savage storm in history. It took them 120 years to build, then catch a pair of every living creature on earth, loading them aboard. In my opinion, he blew his own argument, by suggesting that Moses didnt need, for instance, a brown, black, and polar bear, as after the storm ended, one EVOLVED from the other!

Not sure why you referred to Moses and the story of the ark?
Fascinating that the flood myths are world-wide, with most "ancient" belief systems awash with them.
Some take them literally...
Some make literature out of them.
Claims that the animals were stored as DNA, rather than as actual animals are entertaining.
With the ark not being a ship, but a spaceship...
Noah being an astronaut 🧑‍🚀

🤷🏻‍♂️Every days a school day.

I'm an agnostic.
A god may or may not exist (which is not the same as a belief in one obviously), i doubt we'll ever know, but god has demonstrated over thousands of years he doesn't give a rats ass about us (even those that do believe).
So if there is one he doesn't seem that nice.
XTC's "Dear God" is as good a view as i can think of.
