Smart Cars

One of my mates just drove in an electric car to Devon.
Why would a car have to be electric, to shut it down remotely - or be trackable?

The point is that electric cars don't use an easily taxable fuel. Therefore road pricing will become the norm which means we'll all be trackable 24/7. So no making a mistake be going 5 mph over the limit, no parking anywhere illegal because big brother will get you it will also mean cyclists are fair game as well.

Road pricing would only require cameras at entry and exit points, rather than the expense of tracking every single vehicle all of the time.

Electricity is easily taxable.

Cars are already tracked anyway. Plenty of them.

Are you suggesting tracked cyclists, with their speed and parking monitored?

Entry and exit to what? Most country roads do not have cameras at regular intervals
Cars can be tracked but only if their owners agree to it
If electricity is taxed at the same rate as petrol and diesel there will be a lot of heat pumps being switched off
I'm saying that cyclists could be tracked and taxed according to road use if a future government wanted to increase tax take

Oh you're suggesting charges to use every single road in the country.
Thought you were referring to the more likely motorway network.
Not all electricity would need to be taxed heavily. Just car charging electricity, if that was at all possible. Probably not?

Road tax will remain with electric cars.

More likely is a charge per mile. Perhaps with a few thousand miles free each year. After that you pay for your usage of the roads. No need to track or anything. You're mileage is logged by your car.

But the most likely is toll roads, on the major network routes.

Can't see cyclists being taxed, but who knows...

Road tax isn't really the problem it's the tax take on fuel that will have to be replaced

If you are plugging your car in at home it would be impossible to differentiate that from recharging your vibrator

A lot of people don't use trunk routes/motorway for their daily commute so satellite tracking is the only way to be sure of how much time you spend on the roads

Big brother's gonner get ya

Why don't we just be straight here? We all know that whoever is in control of this circus, already has many ways 'to control'. It's no accident. Everything is going in the direction of more control, more consolidated power.

Just a note, Electricity, Water or Gas have no legal charge, they are free to everyone. The only can charge you for the meter.

Given most people are voluntarily carrying in their pocket the single biggest source of personal data (including your location to within a couple of metres) I think it's safe to say they won't need you to buy an electric car to be able to track you....

they can switch you off anytime they want.

And you can switch your phone off if you so choose or even just have a phone that just allows you to talk to people - I know that's a bit radical but it might just catch on
l believe its just another step towards total control.

A few weeks ago on the suggestion of my son in law who's an architect, l switched all my electric off for 12 hours in the house. I can't say exactly how it felt but something felt very different. He works on large buildings mostly and says they put Faraday rooms in plenty of them.

There was a thing on the 10th at 10 at night for 10 minutes were people turned their electric off, this was as a protest to the rip off bill increases. It was said to cost the companies £9 million, l think its a great way to protest against them.
