We kick off in 2 weeks at home v the Wendies. We think we’re in trouble?
They have maybe 17 players including all the kids, that’s it.
Their manager is still with them but wants out due to their ownership. He apparently has a £5 million release clause so no wonder we didn’t go for him.
Their aged North Stand which some will remember was the second cantilever stand in the country, the first to run the length of the pitch and was built for the 1966 World Cup apparently has real issues with the steel within the construction and there is a very good chance the stand or even the whole stadium might not be granted a safety certificate. That’s 9,000 season ticket holders effectively locked out.
The rest of the stadium is also really aged, even their main stand was built for Euro 96 and that Leppings Lane stand should have been demolished and rebuilt after the tragic disaster there.
The Chansiri family who own them, also Thai, would seemingly rather run the club into the ground than sell it.
So things up here in South Yorkshire are looking bleak to say the least.
