Sevilla

So one of my all time top 3 LCFC matches since watching us from 1965. Just a night that had everything. JV at his shithousery best. Remember coming out of the ground and this little lad around 8/9 was with his dad and I assume grandad. I said to the grandad that they’ve no idea what they’re generally witnessing. He laughed and you could see his eyes were glistening. Unbelievable night.

The Seville game was the best for me, head and shoulders ahead of any other home game.

The Man U 5-3 was second best despite what the press seem to think about last night’s game.

Cambridge 5-0 has to also be up there. Making Derby look a bit stupid on more than one occasion too.

For the sheer pleasure Everton deserves a mention on tgat memorable day but not for the game.

What else deserves a mention? @LGFOX you say Seville was in your top three, what are the others?

As a home game it was the 4-3 in 68 vs Man City. I was only 9 but I remember it clearly. Man City who’d beaten us in the league 6-0 just months earlier, great players all over the pitch and went on to win the league that season. We were 2-0 down inside 15 mins. Gone. But dear old Rodney Fern (just 19 and playing one of his first ever games) nicked one just before HT. The Kop suddenly burst into life. I remember looking over the top from the DD at this seething mass below me at HT. Then it happened. Very similar to what England did to the Dutch in 96, we came out in the 2nd half and battered them. Frank Large ( by name and nature) just couldn’t be held back. Within mins we were 4-2 up! They scored right at the end but it was too late. Just an incredible game.
My other favourites are 74 vs QPR and of course our Cup win in 2021

Arsenal 3 - 3 was special for the last 5mins.
I was working at a university in Durham at the time. Rented a house in a little village called Lanchester. Fuck knows what the locals thought as all of a sudden some outsider was going mental in the corner from 80 minutes onwards.
