Rugby world cup

In my opinion the greatest thing about rugby internationals is the singing of the anthems, particularly France, Italy & Wales. So very disappointing to find that they appear to have been "remixed" & are now being sung by some girl group that make the Spice girls sound good. This really is appalling, just ditch the squarking females & get a band to play the anthem as it should be & let the crowd sing

England v Argentina last night was a lot more interesting than Ukraine v England

It was one of the greatest results in a long time. They were clear favourites anyway to win it. The red card, even though I don’t quite understand the new rules was ridiculous. Nowhere for him to go. But to literally crush them with a man short for the whole game, in intense heat was incredible. Showed the poncy footballers up!

Lost by one try to nil.

Watched an hour of yesterday's World Cup. <yawn> So many stoppages.
It reminded me why I prefer Rugby League. So much better to watch.

Differences to Football
Players respect the referee and their decisions
On substitutions players cross over on the pitch and the subbed player runs off (not kissing his badge and waving)
Players don't feign injury
Proper timekeeping

Lot less different that it used to be. Wales / Fiji last night … don’t believe for a second the Wales scrum half really hurt his head. And they have a posh sounding name for time wasting ‘running down the clock’ … all teams do it when they are ahead in close matches, but again Wales last night were perfect example. Slow to line outs and scrums, collapsing the scrum on purpose, taking ages to use the ball in rucks.

If a player is injured the medics come on & treat them whilst the game continues, the ref only stopping it if it's obviously a serious injury or the play gets close to it,
If this happened in football the impact & improvement would be massive. It would stop the likes of Fernandes/ Maddison constantly going down as if they have been shot & the game would be much faster & enjoyable. I find it a no-brainer that this doesn't happen but I hold out no hope that FIFA would actually do something to make the game better

Fair comment
Any views on my other differences?
One difference (but the opposite way) is that Rugby's laws are just ludicrously complex... even seasoned commentators haven't got a clue (and I say that as someone who used to know them well enough to understand the game 20 plus years ago). This does mean at least that the referees have an excuse for being shit in a way that football refs don't (even if they do talk more calmly and occasionally posher). I thought that last night's English ref in the Wales - Fiji game was especially poor.
