Royal Mail

That was my normal time in our last address.. what does it matter?
Doesn't matter for a bill or summat, but quite often it's helpful to respond same-day to something you're waiting for. Of course, a cynic might say the late deliveries are intentional so that more and more people feel obliged to pay for Special Delivery...

I use to play for Kettering Post Office on a Sunday morning - postie and friend called Rob Whitwell got me involved - can’t imagine him delivering mail but fuck me, he could deliver a fucking good tackle - big, hard old school centre half was Robbie. Same age as me, died 5 years ago. RIP Robbie Whit. (excuse me for feeling a bit maudling but all this ‘grief’ has got thinking about people I really cared about who’ve gone.

Post delivered at 4.30 pm
what's all that about?
The early starts were taken out to make the job more family friendly BUT really to cut pay by removing night allowances. Then second deliveries were taken out & sorting machines introduced, this enabled rounds to be doubled in size. Then delivery prices were slashed for large customers which doubled the workload. Simple.

Of course.
Post service becoming shit – 1991 or so
Privatisation started – 2013

The unions will save it.
