Rodgers relationship with fans

Seems no connection here, even though he delivered the FA cup there appears a lot of criticism of the bloke
Name rarely sung by the fans in fact just the opposite of when the Don was here.
Outright showing of disapproval by the fans yesterday of the decision to substitute Lookman
Something not right here 😁

The standard of football is not good, struggled back end of last season, lucky wins at Wembley on both occasions, the two games we have won Wolves were the better team,Norwich were very unlucky played well or we were poor. So any credit he accrued is dwindling fast. His tactics have been found out, too long in the Scottish leagues, he's a bit of a dinosaur his tactics have been superceded even, it's all right passing around but by the time were in their box their defence is set.
Was the point in having speedy players if you don't play to their strengths, balls over the top for them to run onto as of yesterday is what's required.
Playing around at the back is a recipe for disaster. That's one reason I believe Tielemans will go, hes being stifled with static football.
I also think that Kasper believes he only has to turn up to get a game, I think Ward needs a chance,

Our problem is knowing the strengths of players in a formation that had been designed
For example we have a prolific goalscorer who has been isolated in a plan which
fails to deliver quick movement that he desperately needs Vardy needs space
To execute his speed and accuracy

Nacho delivered when needed last season and allowed Vardy to play a slightly different role. Barnes was very dependent on JJ to be effective before they were both crocked. So why dump Nacho?
Without a decent ball player at Centreback or in goal the tippy tappy approach is flawed and the midfield have to wait to get any service or just get dragged back ( Tielemans) to help out.
No wonder fans are frustrated and the opposition find it too easy too often.
Its mind numbing and doesn't work without key players Brendan.

It begs the question Tartan of why have we gone down this route knowing that you are isolating a game changer. He needs quick service to be effective in his role, the ponderous service does him no good whatsoever, ok he got us out the shit yesterday but most of the time he had two sometimes three hovering round him by our slow play

The Manager is quick to acknowledge his prowess but the tactics employed do JV very little good, to him, or the team, Nacho on the other hand has more technical ability with less pace. You cannot justify playing for pace if it's ability you want off slower play

Surely it's better to build our tactics round a team rather then one individual (an ageing one at that).

There have been plenty of times we have mixed it up with a quick counter.

But it's not happening period.
The team as a whole in this slow build up
are only inviting the opposition to fall back in numbers and negate any team or individual play in attack, you only have to look at yesterday how we were stifled by
slow build-up.

Vardy, Daka, and Lookman are all quick players requiring balls for them to run onto.
All the TV pundits say defenders dont like players with pace, yet we continually build up at a snails pace, they might as well play in a Zimmer frame

possibly the reason we tippy tappy slowly around the back line is the to draw the opposition towards our goal, leaving the space for the speedsters upfront. arguably it is working nicely for vardy, he's top scorer in the league.

its the defending that's the issue.
their is logic in what your saying, i just wish they would vary it now and again. the occasional ball over the top worked for Burnley.
But balls into the box, when Barnes returned from loan he varied his crosses some fired in low. yet all we seem to do now is high balls to vardy against two giant centre backs, even on corners, everyone was a high lobbed ball, I think we only had Vestergard who was taller than any of their team, Saturday we now Vestergard is not the quickest yet we continually let the full backs bomb forward, one should at least should stay to offer cover.
Every week Rogers comes out with the same thing, We didnt move the ball fast enough! ffs what do they do all week, probably playing in the pool, playing golf or watching loose women on one of the 200 tvs at the training ground

Whilst there are times when we have been ponderously slow I don't think that is an accusation that you could level at them too much on Saturday. First half especially we often played quickly and in the 2nd for long periods they sat deep & we had to try and work openings more (and even then managed to get behind them a fair few times most notably on the right side but with a packed defence it was never going to be easy).

When we have played it slow in games I think it generally reflects more a lack of confidence by those at the back than a deliberate ploy to keep things pedestrian. It is clear that, not uncommonly, BR doesn't want the ball launching downfield often, probably reasoning that if we did it's going to just be coming straight back at you and you're going to spend all the game chasing the ball (and for all his speed, Vardy is not likely to cause too many defenders problems when the ball is flying around his head 30-40 yards from goal). It has its place of course and you'll find me shouting "lump it" along with the next man at times.

I do think that this is where we miss Fofana. His willingness to back his own pace & control had the ability to quickly get us moving forward & it isn't something I would expect to see any of the other centre-halves doing (I'd be watching through barely opened fingers if they did).

Then there is Kasper's distribution which is the worst of all possible worlds at the moment as too often it is leading to the ball coming straight back at us but 25 yards from our goal rather than 25 yards from the oppo's. Hoiking it into the stands over the FBs heads is one thing (and frustrating as it is doesn't tend to worry me so much) but too often recently it has felt like short simple passes have gone astray, been played to a teammate under pressure, been hit like rockets to unsuspecting defenders or else underhit. It gives us, the fans, the jitters and that in turn is giving the players the jitters (& vice versa cue ever increasing jitteriness all around) which in turn is leading to the defence being frit to do anything other than keep it as simple as possible.

possibly the reason we tippy tappy slowly around the back line is the to draw the opposition towards our goal, leaving the space for the speedsters upfront. arguably it is working nicely for vardy, he's top scorer in the league.
I think that was especially true for the Man City game - and it nearly worked. It just looks really grim though when you are playing a team who are content to let you do it.

The problem, two pints, is that you can't play over the top against a team who know that's what you want and sit deep.
Burnley have stayed in the Prem on a tiny budget by stifling teams who have pace and relying on two strengths, quick raiding and high balls into the box.
Dyche controls every game from the off as he sets this agenda and challenges the opposition to deal with it.
Losing the first goal against them only makes it even easier for them to sit.
So picking the lock from an undefended mid third is the only option, unless they lose their discipline and venture forward which they did twice and cost them goals. In that context the sub was worth a shot...

Good points made, agree Burnley do sit deep, but after they scored and Vidra new he could beat Vestergard, the did push up slightly, lookman I believe was trying to exploit this and if he keeps up, he will be a good acquisition.
Barnes did a few times early doors then seemed to stop and pass.
Burnley are very good at what they do and are not to taken lightly, but once their back 4 and midfield 4 are set defensively they are very difficult to break down, then you have Pope to contend with high crosses ect are bread and butter to a keeper of his stature.

They do set themselves up well but let’s not forget they’re second from bottom with 2 points and we couldn’t beat them at home .

Dare I say it but he is sticking with Maddison and Tielemans too much.
Tielemans has looked sluggish for months often caught in possession in dangerous areas doesn’t have the pace to move forward into the space created by tippy tappy football at the back.
No ideas what has gone wrong with Maddison I do get the feeling he is morphing into a Paul Gallagher a legend in is own mind.

Both are playing around on the ideal that they have out grown Leicester their agents have got into their heads they can do better but they are forgetting that they still need to be at the top of of their game to get a bigger move and frankly speaking the the stats or facts are not backing them up.

As for Brendan this is where he needs to step up and utilise the squad at his disposal and stop pussyfooting around these players and give the others the same opportunities to show what they can do.
