I was present at WHL in 1969 when he scored a wonder goal against us - Shilton described it this morning on the Today programme, As he said, Jimmy went past about 5 City players before scoring with ease and the crowd were still applauding several minutes later, including the City fans,
A true legend and a genuine bloke.
 
1962 ish at filbert street, his’goal’ at the kop end was disallowed because the ref blew the whistle for ht before his shot hit the net,apart from borebage,bruin;anybody else there?

Stoke was there in Easter 1963..and the final score was 2-2

Another remarkable fact was in the 3 seasons after the WC he scored an average of 25 goals. Yet Ramsey literally ignored him and he only played 3 more times for England despite being in his prime.
He retired from top flight football just after his 31st birthday! All those goals yet he retired so early. Quite staggering but obviously the alcohol was starting to take a hit by then. Such a shame.

Yeah, when I got his autograph in 1978 after a Barnet match it was obvious he was having problems, I waited an hour outside the dressing room and when he finally came out he was a true gent, I was 14 at the time.
 
Remember my late Uncle walked all the way from Filbert Street to London Road Train Station with him once after a game against Spurs. Jimmy blatently refused to give him his autograph and eventually got on a Train without signing his match day programme. Wasn't my Uncles favourite away team's player, as you can imagine .......

Always remember Jock Wallace saying many a time that Greaves was the best goalscorer and finisher he had ever seen .....

March 1963 as mentioned earlier. I was there too. Literally not a blade of grass on the pitch. Just the brown dung we put on during the big freeze to keep games on.
 
That photo could well be from December 1966 when we lost 2-0. I can see Greaves scoring now. Just created so much time for himself. Only my 2nd ever away game aged 8!
