2 day Judicial Review beginning in the High Court in London this morning.West Lynsey Council in Lincolnshire fighting the Home Office decision to use the famous airbase as accomodation for immigrants. Also Braintree Council in Essex involved over similar plans for RAF Wethersfield.
West Lynsey had a solid £multi million agreement with private developers to regenerate the site for business and leisure purposes that would have also secured and preserved the listed military buildings. Those plans for the good of the local community and area are now in serious doubt because of the Home Office untimely interference.
My relative Geoffrey Rice DFC flew from RAF Scampton with the iconic 617 Squadron for the Dambuster Raid in 1943.
Any decision in favour of the Home Office will be an absolute sacrilege,a violation and misuse of what is regarded as sacred!
