Positives and Negatives today

Positives

1) Considering we had a number of players who hadn’t played for a few weeks or even months I thought we did generally well. It was great to see 4 players back who’d been out recently either in the side or on the bench. All looked like they came through the game unscathed.

2). Vestergaard was brilliant. Great blocks, physical and can pass

3). Jonny. Thank goodness he’s back. Total class.

4). Cags. Considering how’s he’s performed recently he was 100% better today against a much better side than West Ham or Norwich. But he needs his big brother Jonny with him or his now best mate Jannik. Playing with Amartey spooks him.

5). Both Nacho and Lookman looked good when they came on. Caused problems and with a little luck could both have scored.

Negatives

1). Maddison has had his chance. Nacho did more in 20 mins than he’s done in the last few months. We can’t keep blaming his injury. He’s lost whatever he had. Compared with Grealish he was embarrassing.

2). Barnes isn’t firing yet. Again today when pressed he looked poor. But I’m sure it’s a short term problem.

3). Albrighton has had his day when he plays against quality opponents like today. Not for 90 mins anyway.

All in all not bad. We defended damn well at times and when they all get up to speed I’m sure we’ll do more than ok

Agree with all that .
Kels did more to link up play in 25 mins than Maddison in 5 games .
Barnes looked hungover ! Lookman much more dangerous when he came on .

Maddison was utter shite. He's stealing a living at the moment and shouldn't even be in the squad let alone wasting 70+ minutes fannying around
Barnes needs JJ in support...hurry back.
Defended bravely but the constant passing around the 18 yard box is starting to do my head in. There was so little movement until Nacho and Lookman appeared too late again.
I know Man City are good but we could be so much better.

PS Maddison's Lamborghini was parked up all afternoon and still moved quicker than him. I was tempted to let the tyres down after the game

Agree with the OP, but thought Tielemans wasn’t on his game today especially 2nd half, Vardy looked poor at times too. Would love to see Lookman, Iheanacho & Daka start on Thursday for Barnes, Albrighton & Vardy with Soumare in for Youri…

LG, almost all you said chimed with the impression I got from the stream and radio.
Those being critical ignore that we stood up well against the best team in Europe and several of our team were working their way back into match fitness. Their defence knew they had been in a game.
JV2 was praised for 'looking like he's been here for years'.

Heard a lot of people slaggin of Tielemans after the game. Dunno what they were watching. Are people now taking for granted him directing play taking possession and quickly redistributing it usually forwards. To me him and Westergaard were our best players today by some way.

I think it’s pretty unfair for people to have a go at Youri today. As I said earlier he’s played in two hard games since Sunday, the one on Wednesday played in deepest Russia. Got back just yesterday. If that was Man City they’d have have the luxury of replacing him. That being said I think with 15 mins to go Soumare could have come on but only 3 subs allowed and thanks to the Lamborghini poser’s performance something had to give.
It’s interesting that Lukaku had a minor injury and was allowed to come home from Belgium on Sunday without going to Russia. Injury fine and scored twice. Amazing isn’t it.

Youri spent half his time facing his own goal in his own last third looking for an out ball. It's not his fault no other fucker was helping out ie Maddison. He needed support and got none. Add to that a fantastic block in the first half.
Rodgers stands there watching this happen. FFS change things earlier.

I was more frustrated by the wide men that Maddison. I thought he'd been poor this season so far but today I thought it did ok. Not great but ok. I thought Barnes & Albrighton on the other hand looked well off of it. Well, the right side is a concern generally, I know everybody loves him but Albrighton's time should be up as a starter, He is not good enough even though his effort cannot be questioned.

Tielemans was the only one looking for the ball in our ridiculous attempts to play out from the back . He kept receiving it with back to their goal on the edge of our own penalty area with Jesus , Gundsghan and Torres breathing down his neck . Did brilliantly to only get caught a couple of times

Vestergaard was awesome today, really great. The substitution was needless in my opinion at that time.
Daggers, I wasn't really surprised with the substitution as he was looking a bit gassed for a few minutes prior to it. Lack of match fitness caught up with him but the bonus for me was the 30 odd minutes that Evans got under his belt 👍

A defence with two debutants, mad Cags and a bloke in a mask, that Amartey was unlucky to be left out of managed to keep Man City to just one goal.

Can’t believe nobody mentioning Schmeichel
How many times he gave the ball to Man City was appalling. Including the build up to their goal
See Pep said "What can I say? The keeper is the best player of the Leicester team because we did many, many good things".

Admittedly he stopped a close range header from Jesus but that was as badly directed as the one Barnes bollocksed up at the other end and I can't remember a string of great saves from Schmeichel, it was more a case of dogged last ditch defending from the team as a whole.

Considering the defenders that have been missing, I think the defence has done ok (other than a couple of brain fades v WHU). The big worry is midfield & attack, where we have everyone available. The lack of pace & creativity is alarming & we are really struggling to get any cohesion. Maddison, Barnes & Albrighton should be nowhere near selection & changes have to be made to see if we can get a better attacking performance.

He was fading and had misplaced a couple of passes just before.

I just think it caused confusion in our defence for a few minutes which led to the goal when Vestergaard had done so well. Kasper didn’t help with that as it also gave us a bit of needless panic at that exact moment. Following that Evans looked decent enough which was good.

They will be happy with the points for sure as I don’t feel they deserved them yesterday. We were good enough for a point on the day.

Given all the money they have spent, from what I saw yesterday I think they will finish behind Yanited and Chelsea.

I agree, we are really struggling for goals and we’re just not creating enough chances. We need to trust some of the newer players to see what they have in the tank and drop the players we are all talking about, starting with Maddison. I like Albrighton but he should be a squad player now and utilised off the bench. I’ve said before I would persevere with Barnes but maybe a week or two out of the side might give him the kick he needs to trust his body and go again.

I’m intrigued by the line up we’ll play on Thursday.

I think that's why we got lookman so we can rest Barnes every now and then
We couldn't do this last season.

Thankfully on a positive note by Thursday we’ll have a full squad to choose from apart from Foufou and JJ. The two CB’s have thankfully been tested and looked good. Don’t think Ricky was quite ready yesterday. ( I’m so pleased it was a minor injury).
My only concern with Thursday is we have field our best side. We must try and beat Napoli. It’s possibly the most important game we’ll play in the group.

Why is it a concern fielding our best team?

Daggers, I obviously watched a different game to you.
I don't think we deserved a point on the day.

Pep still hasn't gotten over the 5-2 and talks shite....We played arguably the best set of players in Europe, and whilst having to defend for our lives at times, we gave a good show in my opinion. Never pleased to lose...but we looked like we're getting better....deserved a point..
