Pitchfork!

its a shame someone didn't kill him inside. Let the cunt out and make him live in Littlethorpe, see how that goes.

Something wrong with sentencing when a person who has committed 2 premeditated murders 3 years apart, still as a chance to gain freedom.
He was also very close to a 3rd killing, when a young girl he picked up in his car had an extremely lucky escape.
Who knows how many other young females could of lost their lives, had Pitchfork not been caught. With the 3 year gap it's almost certain it would of only been a matter of time before he struck again.
In the majority of American states he probably would of been on death row, we don't have that option, but this is one person I believe should of been given a whole life tariff. He is still young enough to be dangerous, and females deserve to be protected from this evil scumbag.

When you know exactly what he did to those poor girls; I can't understand why he could ever be let out again.

I read a book about the case and didn't expect the level of detail.

Hope he rots in hell.

The blooding ?

Always made me wonder about what the police did to get Richard Buckland to confess to one of the murders, when quite clearly he knew he was 100% innocent of the crime.

They were convinced Buckland committed both murders. When Alec Jeffries phoned the police with the DNA results he supposedly told them he had good news and bad news: the good news was that they were looking for one culprit for both murders; the bad news was that it definitely wasn't Richard Buckland.

Buckland would very likely have been convicted if it wasn't for the DNA finger printing. And Pitchfork would very likely have killed again.

And In that sentence you have both the arguments for and against the death penalty.
Years ago Buckland like probably countless other innocent people would of hanged. The police would of just closed the case. Job done. Pitchfork would of been free to carry on.

Where DNA can be used nowadays, convictions are generally safe.
And one great thing about DNA, is the amount of criminals who may have relaxed thinking that they had got away with a crime they committed 20/30 years ago, now know a knock on the door could happy any day soon.

I’m all for bringing back the death sentence only for the most horrific of crimes and serial offenders. If there is ever a shed of a chance the defendant being not guilty then life should be given but if the defendant is bang to rights then why should they live out their life?

There is only one ‘guilty’ verdict - the law doesn’t distinguish between those who are ‘bang to rights’ and those where there is a ‘shred of a chance’ that they are innocent. Before capital punishment was abolished in this country (and before DNA finger printing), Buckland may well have been hanged before Pitchfork was caught.

I know it wouldn’t be easy to bring in but other countries still have it. There is no chance of it ever being brought in, no chance at all.

There is a bit of a difference with guilty verdicts where all members of a jury vote for one outcome or for some cases where a majority verdict is sufficient to find somebody guilty.

The Jigsaw Man by Paul Britton gave a horrible insight into his and other scrouts in cases of Jamie Bulgerand Rachael Nickel.

The gory details are irrelevant to me - don't need or want to know. For the rape and murder of EACH girl he deserved 15 + 25 years minimum - 80 total.
He also deserved a further 10 years minimum for perverting the course. The sentences to be run consecutively not concurrently.
Don't want him on the same streets as my 3 young grand-daughters

Someone marginally more unpopular than Bnet

Newsflash on my phone tells me that the parole Board have agreed to the release of Colin Pitchfork

That is a disgrace.

How can he be suitable for release? The poor families...

The fucking cunt left his baby in the back of a car, to go and rape a girl he saw walking alone.

Devious enough to get someone else to do his blood sample. So capable of manipulation.

Who the fuck made this decision?

He wasn't given a whole-life tariff, which meant this was always possible. If he was convicted of the same crimes today, he'd probably never get out.

Never knew that about the baby. Wow

It is an appalling detail.

If he can do that, then he is capable of anything.

Too dangerous to be out of prison.
