The following are lifted from fan forum analyses of Rodgers’ seasons in charge.

Season One

It was also clear, however, that Rodgers' tactical demands were troubling some of his players, with his possession-based philosophy encouraging errors, particularly from the defenders that cost his team soft goals.

He came in for some criticism for failing to see his side claim many points against the League's stronger teams.

Season Two

General confusion at the final dramatic falling away, when needing seven points from the last three games to clinch success.

The high finish was welcome to a fan base starved of recent League success. However, Rodgers was criticised for a lack of an impact from his summer signings.

Season Three

Unfortunately for Rodgers, the team toiled in the early phase of the new season, struggling to find fluency in front of goal, whilst showing no signs of improvement defensively. As had occurred the season before, Rodgers' summer signings were criticised for failing to improve the defence or attack respectively, whilst earlier big money signings were failing to impact the team at all.

They continued to drop points over the coming games, with Rodgers losing the backing of increasing numbers of supporters. Fans were particularly disillusioned with Rodgers' continued selection of players who were deemed to be consistently underperforming, while the team's defensive woes and lack of attacking prowess that had punctuated their season to date failing to improve.

Rodgers admitted that he was now 'favourite for the sack,' yet publicly affirmed his belief that he would guide the team into the top 4 of the Premier League.

Season Four

In the next game however, they were crushed at home by 3 goals to 0, a third big defeat in their past six games. This led to increased scrutiny of Rodgers' tactics, scrutiny which was only enhanced following a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United, where, following a dull first half, the away team were clearly second best in the second half.

Rodgers' final game in charge was a 1-1 home draw with Everton, with his record of just one win in 17 games away to Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Everton being particularly highlighted in the build up. A few hours later, it was confirmed that Rodgers had left the club, after just over three years in charge.

Yes, Liverpool fans have called Rodgers’ tenure at their club in the same way most of us do here. We continue to be mis-directed to lack of board support, individual errors, even fan negativity as reasons for our decline. But we are stuck in a past cycle, an ominous pattern, and we’re now reliving it, Phil Connors-style.
