Perhaps We Got A Bit Above Ourselves?

Soho, Brauny and Kendall all pretty much say the same thing which is that the club has reached the peak of any sort of journey that it is on.
They talk of the top six as some sort of impenetrable elite which clubs our size can never join.
As things stand this is true. And had the club genuinely set out to achieve that goal then clearly it is not likely to happen on a sustained basis.
So 15/16 was a one off. But we should remember that our present playing staff is light years ahead of that which took the title.
So whilst a permanent top six position is unlikely we can still upset the elite.
The basis of the views stated seems to be the present state of 'out of balance' financial situation represents the start of a slide to mid table or worse but as this is sorted, as it will be, we will go again..
BR had his finger on the pulse at the end of last season when he saw the need for a renewal of staff to counter institutional complacency.
That it didn't happen does not mean he was wrong.
The apparent determination to retain Madds and Wes suggests no crisis, the only fly in the ointment is failing to sell a reluctant YT.
So, I think we are just pausing and can resume the aim to upset the prevailing order.
As I said the other day four of the top six are in disarray at the moment and looking far from comfortable. Keep the faith!

The top 6 have been established now for years. Add Newcastle and their riches into the mix over the next few years.

Also West Ham should be there or there abouts given the small amount of money they play each year to play at the London Stadium. If they’re not it’s down to bad management.

So with us, who are the odd one out from this list, that makes a top 9 all going after what, 7 European places?
