Parson Daka has signed

He’s a parson Hackney? Will he be giving a sermon before every game?

Nice brief interview on the LCFC Facebook page.

Looks genuinely excited and happy to join us. Says he's been following us since our PL win 2016 and mentions Jamie Vardy as a player he's been looking up to because of his playing style and is looking forward to learning from him.

Good start I'd say!!

Gives us options now we have three strikers

Just checked a Salzburg fans forum. They appear genuinely pleased for him and generally think he'll make it in the PL. It seems it's a record transfer for the club, too. It also seems RB Salzburg's philosophy is a bit like ours: unearth talent, develop it and if need be sell it on for a huge profit.

I also found Patson Daka's farewell video. Comes across as a humble and decent person and is genuinely grateful for the opportunity and time at RB Salzburg. Let's just say we've had players leaving under much less favourable circumstances...

Thanks for posting that swabian. An excellent find. Aside from what you say he comes across as articulate, very grounded and eager to progress. I like the cut of his jib. Let's hope we see plenty of his goal celebrations in years to come 😊

Playing in Austria at least he will be used to playing in minus temperatures probably without gloves.
He mentioned his first encounter with snow in the interview above - in fact he thought he wasn't gonna make it in that sort of climate :)

I like the following facts about him

1. Young. Just 22
2. Good physique. 6’1” so has height as well as presence
3. Not just a one season wonder. He’s done it in two consecutive seasons in a league that’s now better than the Dutch Eredivsie
4. Can learn off Jamie.
5. Didn’t break the bank. £23m is pretty cheap assuming it includes add ons

He’s exactly what we’ve needed and with Nacho suddenly coming to the fore and HB retuning we’ve got a good strike force. It’s just a shame about Perez

Our African correspondent says;
“Seriously? A third division player at best. I cannot believe the amount LCFC have shelled out on him. A few goals against Zimbabwe, who my dead cat could get a brace against, and you lot think you’ve got the next George Weah? My god are you going to be disappointed”.

Didnt he get a brace v the scousers

Yes,yes, yes! But the African correspondent knows what he's talking about - you don't!

Also, although the Liverpool Echo suggested Daka was the greatest scoring sensation since erm, erm, erm Salah, that was before LCFC outbid the Mickeys and embarrassed them big time. The local rag then mindful of its relations with Fenway Sports Group, began to backtrack and point out that £23m was a huge gamble for an unknown in the Prem.

Yeah! That unknown who had poked a couple past you bin dipping twats, as you fiddled while Anfield burned. And, and, it's an absolute delight to report that the reason Liverpool FC did not pursue the player was not because of second thoughts but because they haven't a pot to piss in, and cannot compete with li'l ole Leicester City. LOL m8. Suck it in.

😁😁😁

PS, I'll back my judgement of Daka against our African correspondent any time. £100 says he proves not to be a Championship player.

BLUE ARMY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I fancy him to be a success too , hes driven , fast , agile , big , strong , methinks a bargain

There is an article (link) in The Athletic about the background of the transfer. I'm not a subscriber and thus can't read it though.

I also read elsewhere (might not be true, mind) that Daka himself had a word in this, too, as he prefered the option of more or less guaranteed game time over being a squad player elsewhere.
