Out on the town.

Wandered across to Poole Quay this evening, one of our regular pubs. Walked up to the bar, barman offers his hand which I shake, order drinks for Mrs AFC and myself. Old boy at the bar, who we speak to on occasion, who is a bit past his best, looking to get a drink so I buy him a scotch. Totally normal, wonderful.

Went outside asked to share a big table with two other blokes, fine they said, a couple of drinks and plenty of chat between the 4 of us.

Of to find some food, one place was not that busy and we know their food is good so went to go in. Girl at the door, 'you must wear a mask', thanked her and told her we would go elsewear, no wonder the place was half empty. Bike night so very busy, everywhere else that is.

Wandered through the town to another bar/restaurant, walked up to the bar, girl in a mask but super otherwise, ordered wine, chatted normally , lovely. Ordered some food, very decent and the waiter who served, a youngish lad, unmasked though we were outside was excellent.

Chatted to the girl as she made Mrs AFC an expresso Martini, which she enjoyed while I finished the wine, totally normal and absolutely smashing.

Hope you and everyone else remember the place that told you you had to wear a face nappy and never return and put them out of business.

Overall it was a very pleasant evening. It was 'Bike Night' so very busy and although we were able to get drinks in the (old) normal manner, restaurants and bars serving food were packed.

The one place that had a fair amount of space was the one mentioned, we know it actually does pretty decent food so we went to go in with the result mentioned above.

It is their house, so their rules, fair enough, but interesting that they were half empty when everywhere else was packed. We shall make no attempt to return anytime soon.

Follow up to yesterday, popped into Sainsburys to pick up some heavy stuff, water, cider etc.

Staff all masked, a lot, more than half I would say, of the punters all masked up. Chatted to two members of staff, both masked but otherwise as normal.

One 30-something in a mask scuttled away when confronted with me un-masked, no one else seemed bothered one way or another.

In Sainsbury's Fosse Park yesterday 80 - 90% were wearing masks, all ages. Like a bunch of sheep - what a compliant society we have unfortunately become.

Or maybe people with common sense able to make up their own minds based on the latest clear scientific data that you are much less likely to pass on the infection and a little less likely to catch it .
I guess you just like lockdowns

Obviously I am elsewhere, my observations were in the Poole town centre branch, which has been one of the stricter shops here. I would usually wait outside and let Mrs AFC go in alone, until they took away the benches, which were mainly used by older folk needing a bit of a sit.

Here it is simple. Masks are required indoors unless you are eating or drinking, which you don't do in supermarkets.

Outdoors they are not required but people politely wear them in busy places like markets.

As for being out on the town, we visit the bar twice a day for midmorning coffee and a pre lunch drink.

Life goes on.

Good evening all.

Out for a relatively gentle night out. Bus to Westbourne, well two buses actually, barely a mask in sight and pretty much normal, so normal that we were allowed to cuddle a suitably soppy spaniel owned by the couple in front of us in the bus.

In Westbourne we popped into one of our favourite bars, warm greetings from the staff who remembered us from pre-lockdown, able to order and drink at the bar, so normal, so nice.

We had a table booked elsewhere, otherwise we might have stayed, so off we went, drank loads, ate enough, just as we like it. Mrs AFC, suitably attired, with a bit of slap looked drop dead gorgeous and got a few admiring glances from blokes little more than half her age, very pleased.

Lovely evening all told, sometimes life is great.

Just in case you need to know, I am off to the gym in a minute or two.

Nice bit of cardio followed by some work on the upper body to build up strength in the shoulder that got damaged last year.

Then planning a nice bit of lunch at home........

Fascinating.
Isn't it.

Bit of drama on the way back from the gym, Mrs AFC had spotted a shop selling half price designer facemasks but was really disappointed that the leopard print one that she was after was sold out.

Inconsolable, so she is in the bedroom tidying up her sock drawer.

Bet foxgolfer and Stam have bought them all. Strutting their stuff around Stamford.

No time for such frippery, I have the grocery cupboard to reorganise, some tins of tomatoes have got mixed in with the baked beans and the dried pasta needs putting into date order.
