Olympics thread

Apartt from the end I thought it was no better than 3/10. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt of using the Seine as something different but it was so ‘typically’ French. No humour, terrible filming of the occasion, and just generally Zzzzzzzzzz. Were the French camera lens cleaners on strike.
As I’ve just read, the longest the French have taken in setting something on fire in years. Just generally a load of merde

The sports are all shit now anyway, no-one plays them but the States. If it's popular in a college dorm, or some crackhead from Colorado tumbles down a hill on a trashcan lid, it's a new sport and America wins gold.

Really honestly 100% couldn't give a flying fuck about it.
I'd agree completely about a fucking opening ceremony. Who gives a shit about that sort of bollocks?
Potentially have some interest in some of the sports, if only for the 4-yearly novelty factor, but the likes of tennis and football can fuck right off.

Who can get back to where they started from the soonest or who can chuck a stick the furthest all done by scrawny fuckers that look like could do with a good plate of pie and chips.

So funny after galloping the Olympic flag down the Seine on a metal horse like Escalado without any competition they managed to hang it upside down. Vive La France!

The icing on the cake, has to be the Canadian women's football team. Three days after getting busted, you can still go to the Soccer Canada website - and they've got job listings up for experienced drone operators. You can't make that kind of stupidity up.

The Olympics is brilliant. Having coached at an athletics club it's great to see the hours of hard work and dedication pay off. What an amazing achievement for someone like 17 year old Phoebe Gill to be lining up with the best in the world.

I mean in general.
4 years of some upper class twats practicing for something that happens occasionally.

Love the Olympics. I’m guessing some of the competitors are working class too.
Athletics is one of the most inclusive sports. There's no subjectivity like football for example, where one scout can watch and think you're shit, whereas another thinks you're the next Messi. In athletics, if you run the fastest time, jump or throw the furthest you're in.

I can name plenty of sports where working class are the minority.
What’s a working-class sport anyway?

And what if a working-class person manages to become an elite sportsperson in a non-working class sport? Do they stop becoming working class? Should they be banished somewhere?!

Only 2% goes to the house. Baby needs a new pair of shoes!

See? Canucks got slapped with points deductions and a 200,000 fine in Swiss Francs. Is that a lot? Who's got Swiss Francs?

You can expect that behaviour from a sport franchise under private ownership, but a national programme using public money? Unreal.
