Off Grid

Some people are free thinkers, others need and want to be told what to do and what to think.
That’s why you’ll never understand.

We're all different, I suppose. My girlfriend would go nuts if I proposed something like this.

But to me...
He's built his own house, he lives in the country, he's developed his own energy supply, he has a job... (so still has money for booze, books....whatever he wants)... and he seems happy. Oh, and he'll have all the fun of building a new house soon.

Seems great to me.

Looks great to me, I built my house many years ago now, not of grid. But it stills gives me great satisfaction. I think this guy is brilliant.

I give him another couple of years before he flips out, he'll have a giant beard like a U-boat crewman.
Mennonites are a giant pain in the ass. What's missing, is his neighbour's opinions. He probably f**ks up traffic with his horse and buggy and causes accidents.

Where is he anyway, the middle of Basingstoke?

I do know people who got that bright idea, go north and then they're back in a year or two because they can't take the isolation, particularly winter. And you're going to get hurt - he has an accident in his woodshop, then what? Also stayed in the middle of nowhere and it gets old quick. You want hot coffee, you need to cut down a tree. It's a royal pain.

If I remember rightly, I think he's in Wales or on the border of England and Wales. Some years ago I came across his channel, but I might be mixing up the details with someone else. If it's him, I think he's not far away from a village and a pub. Sounds fine to me.

Oh... and I reckon he's got enough power to boil a kettle.

He's doing a cracking job and making a living out of it. Fair play.

Off the power grid and all that comes with that.

Not really completely off-grid though.

They think you can only get coffee from Starbucks. It’s painful !

Or you could just plug your coffee machine into this crazy thing called a 'wall socket' that connects to the electrical grid. Horror of horrors, let's all run off and live in the woods. You people seriously baffle me sometimes.
