And of course, you'll want some authority to tell you what misinformation is.

I imagine at the heart of this is a belief that you and this 'truth' authority will always be in agreement. Good luck with that.

There is no perfect independent authority. That's impossible.

However, I'd much rather have a body that is not the government have a clear responsibility for applying standards than the free for all disaster that we currently see.

Tommeh’s a good investigative journo. Seen his documentary?

He's exactly the sort of moron I have in mind.

You're so stupid that even when I post a court report that shows multiple falsehoods in his bullshit documentary, you are incapable of coping with the truth.

I know you would, and couldn't disagree with you more.

See what I mean?
It's your truth or nothing, mainly because you're cock-sure that you are right.

I'm not so certain and would prefer to have the option of all opinions coming my way.

You're completely missing the point.

They are not shared as 'opinions', they are shared as 'facts'.

The TR documentary is not based on facts. It is full of bullshit lies. That is not my view. It is not the government view. It is not anybody's view actually.

TR was asked to produce evidence to corroborate the things he said and he repeatedly couldn't do it. It was very much in his interest to do so as it has cost him a lot of money so you'd have thought that he would if he could.

He was asked to be accountable for his 'facts' and he was made to look a complete fraud.

Well, at least you're explaining it, rather than having it banned and not allowing me the opportunity to make my own mind up. The latter is what you're up for.

I've not seen it. It may be that you're absolutely right, but if I do watch it, I'll make my own mind up. Same goes for the sources that say he couldn't prove evidence etc.

If you think this reply is missing the point, I can only imagine, once again, that you believe that you are 100% right, and so everyone should just fall in-line and agree.

The only problem I have with this is the 'I'll make my own mind up' bit.

How do you do that exactly? When you watch or read something, what cognitive skills do you engage in order to sift out the shite and take on board the truth?

If we could all do that, there would be no issue. But we can't. And that isn't a failure on your part or anybody else's.

Every thing you decide is the truth has been accepted because your brain is biased towards certain things and dismisses other things. Same with all of us. That's why there is so much disagreement all the time about things that shouldn't be that difficult to accept.

Ten people on here could watch the TR documentary and five agree with TR and five disagree. The world we live in nowadays is ruined by our collective inability to objectively understand the difference between things.

So no matter how tedious it may seem, the only way is for those that have no 'skin in the game' assess truth and lies. This isn't some weird viewpoint, it is a real concern across all countries and within all administrations.

There is no such thing as 'making up your own mind'.

While I think philosophy is beautiful, I don't see it as an excuse for just giving up.

Everyone has skin in the game.
Everyone is born into the midst of things.
Everyone is born into a human culture/family that shapes opinion.
Most of us, perhaps not you, are stumbling, trying to make sense. But we are trying.
It's called being human.

It might be difficult to make up our own minds. As you say, it might be impossible.

But if you think people are that shit at making up their own minds, what makes you want to...
i. give the right to other shitty people, who are equally crap at making up their own minds.
ii. Let them come up with shitty opinions.
iii. And then finally have those shitty opinions forced on everyone else?

I don't think you've really thought this through.
