It definitely has something. There are things about London I absolutely love. But I'd rather live elsewhere. It’s still the greatest city on earth In my opinion.
Me too Regi, I have considered West London to have been my home for about 50 years. I have lived elsewhere but London was very special, until quite recently that is.It definitely has something. There are things about London I absolutely love. But I'd rather live elsewhere.
No.An air of menace on the streets?
It’s an age thing, you got old and left, it happens. You changed not the city.
I love London, wish I’d never left. Can’t go along with the scaredy-cats and snowflakes. It’s still the greatest city on earth In my opinion.
Or those that hate shit in a phone boxI love London, wish I’d never left. Can’t go along with the scaredy-cats and snowflakes.
Or gangs of feral youths roaming the streets snatching handbags, accosting Mrs AFC after a 'late' at the surgery as she might have some 'drugs'. I really miss the smell of weed and the used needles on the stairs to our flat, the damage to our car and property, yeah, really miss all that.Or those that hate shit in a phone box
Stop being a scaredy cat and a snow flake. Embrace the diversity.Or gangs of feral youths roaming the streets snatching handbags, accosting Mrs AFC after a 'late' at the surgery as she might have some 'drugs'. I know, scaredy cat bad...Stop being a scaredy cat and a snow flake. Embrace the diversity.
Glad you’ve no regrets. It’s a double edge sword for me. I’ve no issues with diversity and different cultures. In fact I love it. But the establishment have created a monster by ghettoing the immigrants. Leaving the youth with little to do and pricing material things out of reach for many while society glamourises crime and the fruits of crime. Add to that the unfairness of the system and you’ve created a very dangerous unpleasant melting pot.I know, scaredy cat bad...
Seriously for a moment, the decision to leave London was taken about 6-7 years ago, put in abeyance for a year because of my cancer.
The balance of life in London was shifting for us, yes we were getting older, but we found that few of the things we enjoyed about London actually involved involved going into central London, apart from a handful of decent restaurants, we rarely bothered, preferring more local pursuits in west London where we lived.
But that was changing too, drugs, violent criminal and antisocial behaviour was becoming more common and when the threat became 'personel' we decided that the balance had shifted to the negative side.
We left in 2018 knowing that there was little possibility of a return for financial reasons. No regrets so far.
Of course there are things that we still miss. It took Mrs AFC a couple of years to get over not having her work and all the things that go with it, but she is over that. So involved with other stuff now she wonders how she ever managed a full time job.Glad you’ve no regrets. It’s a double edge sword for me. I’ve no issues with diversity and different cultures. We listen to all those above, us old farts. But you want to spend some time listening to the stuff young Asian/ black youths listen to. (One of my team leaders listens to it on YouTube)That's an interesting point.
You don't see many films, or hear many songs about just getting on with things, living a life that causes no harm to others and not being materialistic.
How boring would that be...
