No council tax rises

Except in Leicestershire, it's going up 2.99% and they're tapping 18 million from a reserve fund just to keep it that low.
Fantasy economics finally meets reality.
Reform - the party that doesn't keep it's promises, can't do it's economic sums, and is full of failed Tories that ruined the country in the first place.

As an actual Leicestershire County resident I am more than happy with a lower than inflation increase in Council Tax

Using Reserves (which is my fucking money anyway) to ease the crippling increase in other costs (introduced by Labour) is good policy in these very difficult times

The Reform UK promise to reduce Council Tax was ill-advised (as was Keir Stalin's promise to do the same and to reduce energy costs - which he has failed to deliver because he is a fucking liar)

Thankfully we had the chance to vote Reform UK into power in Leicestershire - many other parts of the UK have had democracy stolen from them

As an aside - nearly 1 in 5 of LCC's 'employees' are on the sick and on full pay

Where are you getting your information about this from?

My check shows that the sick rate in LCC is 3.47% and that there is no published data on what proportion of those people are on full pay vs. SSP or half pay or nil pay.

No mention then of Leicester, a city that's been deteriorating for decades under the same political power.

Reform were campaigning on DOGE style changes and cutting the fat. They have increased Council Tax by the maximum permitted 5% in Derbyshire, North Northamptonshire, West Northamptonshire and Leicestershire. Kent, which is a right mess, are increasing by 3.99%

Funny how it's gone from Reform taking over and getting rid of the waste, to "I am more than happy with a lower than inflation increase in Council Tax"

Reform campaigned on reducing waste and bringing down Council Tax bills
Quite right, shall I list some of the things Labour have failed to achieve?
The point is there are some on here who leap on every failure by Reform but ignore that all of the other parties have been doing it for years and their incompetence, lies and inability to implement their wish lists are the reason Reform are doing so well

That and a media who helpfully push them at every opportunity.

Especially the BBC of all people. Chris Mason and Laura K are especially guilty.

I understand the maximum increase is 5% year on year. Some councils have requested special permission to increase more than this as they are in the shit and others have obviously chosen a lesser increase.

Yeah but Reform are supposed to be the bringers of change🤷🏻‍♂️

I welcome this new found interest in local politics but note that is seems limited to Reform UK only and I don't recall similar interest in the cancellation of local elections by the Labour 'Government'

I look forward to regular reports on bin collections in Neverheardofshire County Council and Wherethefuckisthatplace Borough Council but suspect that the interest will fade very quickly

I wonder what the next weak attack line will be?
