Yes it certainly is. Word of warning, collectors love them. Stackers won’t touch them with a barge pole.
Reason being. You could buy a genuine rare gold coin that has been found from a shipwreck and pay top dollar for it. 10 years down the line and someone else finds another treasure chest worth from the same ship wreck making your coin not so rare and a big drop in premium.

Oh and the “pieces of eight” stuff is a silver coin. They would cut the coin up to pay for items. The most you could practically cut a coin up was into eight pieces.
Hence the term 2 bits for example.
