Newcastle 1992 Memories

I was in pen 4 with some mates and my step dad. Can remember vividly the nervous tension and a couple of our lot having a bit of a scrap in the main stand enclosure before the game due to some petty argument.

For some reason you knew the place was going to go nasty from there on in.

Too much at stake for a club who'd had nothing to shout about for a long time. I was totally gutted at the end having grown up on a diet of Pleat shite from an early age.

I was in pen 3 and there was a real feeling of giving it to the Geordies after all of the bully boy stuff they'd dished out in the 80s.

My mate was off like a shot and there seemed to be an endless supply of missiles to rain on the Geordies.

I'm not condoning it at all as it was never my thing as I've always gone solely for the football.

I remember trudging away thinking we may get thrown out of the league. There again I was a bit tired and emotional after 8 pints and a couple of flaming sambucas before the game.

I was in SK3 as well. Later that year we were in Blackpool for our annual long weekend piss up and in the hotel at Breakfast were a table full of Geordies, saw my shirt and immeadiately started "canny place that Filbert Street like" and "fuckin animals". Coming from them highly amusing.

I was in main stand staring at floor after Walsh levled , they made it 1.2 when I looked up pitch was full of lads ha , a year later they were out for payback at their place real toxic in pub before and nasty outside after but we laughed off the 7.1 defeat ,just another club who have a small section of fans who dish it out but can’t take it.

I was at uni in Newcastle and probably the only Leicester fan travelling down from there. Was in pen 3 and it was toxic all day. Mad looking back.
Horrendous facing the Geordies on return, the 7-1 was a living nightmare!

Lindisfarne behind us at half time the only good thing about that day

We went up to the “toon” for the last game of the season, and we were drinking in the Three Bulls Head with them before the game. To be honest I can’t remember any problems, although to be fair, they were in celebrating mood that day.

Was rough in the pub behind the away end until my Geordie mate rocked up with his 6 foot 8 mate.

Most were celebrating tbf but a few were growling ,think a geordie lost an eye down here in 1992 but that’s hearsay not got it from anyone reliable.

Was it the 1984 game down here when it also properly kicked off ?

It was the first time I saw our lot opening ambulance doors on the Welford Rd to see if there were any Geordies inside

When we were in the pub before the game in Newcastle we were confronted by a Geordie about his "mate losing an eye" and did we do it!then my mate with his monster mate appeared and he left us alone.

I knew Fat Lee very well. He passed away a number of years ago now. His Dad and his brother Chris used go to games also.

Always remember half time and the away end singing Brian Littles Blue and White Army throughout. Kevin Keegan on the local radio even gave it a mention.

Yes a lot of us stayed to see them parade the Championship trophy, when they got to the away end Keegan held it up and mouthed to us "See you in the Prem"
