Musical Connections - STATS

Roofer
Let’s start with big one – Artists with the most entries after 1,518 links.

And it’s David Bowie that tops the chart at this stage with THIRTEEN posts (2 repeats – ‘Hallo Spaceboy’)

Then we come to what may be a contentious second place. I’m not a Neil Young aficionado so I’ll bow to others expertise, but Neil Young/Neil Young & Crazy Horse have ELEVEN entries (2 repeats – ‘Old Man’).

How much of a difference is Neil Young and Neil Young & Crazy Horse? Should there be two separate placings? (Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young I class as different though btw).

Similar queries will crop up (Marc Bolan & T. Rex and T. Rex et al). Whereas things like Morrissey and The Smiths clearly are different.

Anyway, onwards… and in joint third place with TEN entries:
Hawkwind
Jethro Tull
Iron Maiden
(2 repeats)
The Rolling Stones (2 repeats)
King Crimson (2 repeats)

Joint fourth with NINE:
The Beatles
Rory Gallagher
Captain Beefheart (& Magic Band)
Bonzo Dog (doo dah) Band
(with Laughing Blues a repeat)

With EIGHT entries we have:
Motorhead (but with 'Killed by Death' posted twice)
and Status Quo who have gotten there courtesy of a ‘Paper Plane’ treble!

And these old gits have somehow managed SEVEN:
The Groundhogs
The Byrds
Cat Stevens
Queen
(2 repeats)

We’ll go as far as seventh place for now, but if you want more, or to know the placings of any artist/song in particular, just ask, and of course it’s a fluid situation.
So, with SIX appearances each we have:
Marillion, Metallica, Curved Air, Deep Purple, Dr Feelgood, Free, Half Man Half Biscuit, Legendary Pink Dots, Pink Floyd, Ultravox, Velvet Underground, ZZ Top.

A semi-interesting anomaly are the 'theme tunes' that crop up from time to time. For instance...

The Basil Brush Show
Captain Pugwash
Casey Jones
Hill St Blues
Joe 90
Only Fools and Horses
The Godfather
Thunderbirds
Bob the Builder
The Good the Bad and the Ugly

Overall I think the above info indicates once again that the average age of a Roofer is certainly not in the teens 😂

Great stuff! I'd say Neil Young/NY & Crazy Horse would count as the same but maybe others with greater knowledge of his history would disagree.

Love the Mamas and Papas stat. :) Edited to add that was bang in the middle of the American themed "frenzy" which seemed a bit like whack a mole!

As I've said somewhere else, shame we don't have the technology to stop duplications, you obviously get full marks for your homework but you definitely need to get out more😂😂😂
