Murder Castle

Interesting bit of trivia, the writer Anthony Boucher used H.H. Holmes as a pseudonym. He worked reviewing books for the New York Times under his real name and concurrently under Holmes for the New York Tribune. How you get away with that name in the 40's is beyond me.
Interesting guy, he was pals with L. Ron Hubbard when he was still a 'serious' science fiction writer.

Yours

S. Dubois Dunce.

Mental.
One thing's for sure: if he really did design the house how the legend says, then they missed an opportunity in demolishing it.

I think it was already a burnt shell when they tore it down. The architecture right across The Rust Belt is fascinating - strange mix of Gothic and Art-Deco, most of it intact.

They're an interesting couple - very likable and a huge subscriber base. Just scrolling though the uploads. I have my fair share of Raymond Chandler paperbacks, but the Black Dahlia stuff is a bit too morbid for me. When it comes to true crime, I need a definite conclusion.

My plan for the perfect murder is a sincere apology. Look the police straight in the eye and say with conviction: 'I'm sorry for committing murder'. After that, I should be good to go.
Failing that, I'd make all the evidence look completely circumstantial. Then hire a bunch of great lawyers to get me off.

What brought on this kick? 🧐

It's more than macabre. It's infuriating what happened to her. If you want a feel of the era, and a genuinely interesting look at the case and someone's life, I can recommend the book.
