Martin Sammuel having a pop

I think it just demonstrates that there are some spectacularly ill-informed people out there, and some of them have no excuse for being so ignorant because they have the time, money and resources of a major news outlet to facilitate their enquiries and information-gathering activities...

Just a shit stirrer

He forgets that last Saturday complemented their team with teenagers plus their injury list did he highlight that the team has been short of class defenders for most of the Season No
Don't let story get in the way of facts

Injuries is part of the game. Players going to the African Cup of Nations is part of the game.

Why should games be postponed because of a team having a horrendous injury list and some players having gone to Africa?

Yes Covid adds another dimension but if a team has no Covid cases but still 7 or 8 fit first team players why should a game be postponed?

Also it’s pretty clear that Klopp was lying again when he spoke of so many false positive tests, the chances of so many false positives is so, so remote it cannot be true and he needs to be called out on it.

I haven’t read the article by the way.

Martin Samuel is an experienced journalist. Of course he knows full well that even if our AFCON players were available, we'd still be comfortably short of the required number of senior players according to Premier League rules. Yet he makes no mention of this in the column. It's not laziness - it's just that he had an idea for an easy opinion piece and was not going to let the facts get in his way.

Whilst parts of what Samuel has said is lazy journalism, he echoes what I put in my ‘These PL postponements’ post the other day. Quite simply if this wasn’t Leicester I suspect we’d be pretty upset.
This problem IMO is all down to the PL 100%.They want their cake, but they want it iced too with cherries and sprinkles.
They’ve decided on just 3 subs. If they’d have been 5 available, Vardy would have come off vs Liverpool and probably would have saved his hamstring. Loads more injuries have come about like this.
They’ve sold their tv deals in such a way that I bet there are huge penalties if games don’t go ahead. Amazon as I said in my post would have dictated that a lot of clubs had to play 48hrs later over Xmas. The only club who would cope would have been Man City who would have swapped all 10 outfield players with no drop in quality. Someone put on here that Pep hardly makes a substitution. He doesn’t have to as his players aren’t playing every 3 days like a lot of clubs. I suspect the PL look at Amazon as a potential big player in the future and are frightened to death of pissing them off. It’s all about £££££.
The PL dictated that each club can only have a 25 player squad. They’ve also said that if you can’t put out a team with 13+1 then the game will be postponed. There were NO stipulations ie AFCON etc. Can you imagine a club with 10 Africans. They’d never field a side for a month. It’s actually possible. After all Wolves would be devastated if they lost all their Portuguese lot! ( it’s an Imaginary scenario)
I suspect that in the summer the PL will change a lot of these rules as from now on until May we’ll see more and more ‘injuries’ cause postponements when a club feels like it and the BCC’s will head that list.Klippity has already ‘admitted’ that they twisted the rules with his false positive covid test statement

AFCON players should not be counted in any 'injury' crisis. When they were signed it was always a possibility they would be called away on international duty and agree with LGFOX, it's not unimaginable that a team could be heavily loaded with these players

Reckon we dodged a bullet

There is a lot in what LG said re PL greed, especially the Christmas / Amazon deal. Although there has always been a heavy schedule at this time.

One factor no one has mentioned is "being successful". That meant for us another six games in Europa League. God knows what if we had won the shootout at Anfield.

AFCON is another factor, though it could be argued that PL addressed this with the sort of January break. But for the team (us) with the most successful Africans that was foreseeable.

In a way our situation is similar to what happened to the Scouse last year where injuries wiped out their defence, but hopefully we can repeat what they did by making a late run like they did scraping 4th. We have the best squad in our history, wish we could get them here in training and prove it.

Whoever we put out we cannot lose to F*r*st under any circumstances, though.

We did have 5 subs against Liverpool as it was a cup game but unfortunately we had used them all.

Quite right, my little wood pigeon. However perhaps LG was referring to the home Prem game where only 3 subs (all used) were allowed.

BLUE ARMY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

His identity and club loyalty is irrelevant. yes, clubs sign African talent and factor it in but the Covid has blown those plans aside.
I always value your posts LG as you able to develop a view, something not always the case on here.
I think you credit Amazon with more power than they have. At some stage they must have been invited into the bidding process
and found it pretty crowded. so got steered into the Xmas period. You are probably right that they are a potential major player should they choose to be and the Prem know this.

Vardy never played in the league game but he played in the cup game.

Yes Bruin is correct. I was referring to the league game. Vardy played all 90 mins.
