Retired from football not the most gifted but was immense during the title winning season, also at awards night he was on our table, top bloke who was a pleasure to spend some time with

Left the ground cursing him, but hoping that as we'd run them so close, the ride might yet continue.
Ranieri managed it wonderfully and they blew up.

I left the ground cursing him all the way back to Nigel's.
It got worse when I saw on the telly that night that the ball had rolled out across the goal line just before Marcin cleaned the Arsenal lad out.
But later Huth said that way Arsenal celebrated their win like they had won the title without bothering to even shake hands with the City players after the game was what won the title for City.

Wasn't there a pic of Morgan (and possibly others) giving them the thousand yard stare when they were celebrating on the pitch ? It was an "are you for real you cunts ?" look on Morgan's face. Or did that come to me in a dream ? :)

No there was a group of City players stood round the centre circle with their hands on their hips watching the Arsenal players diving into the crowd.
It included Wes, Drinky and Huth. It was indeed the thousand yard stare.
And they were even worse in their dressing room if the photos/ videos were anything to go by.

I was blaming him for the body-check / assault just outside the box that produced the free-kick for their winner. Are you saying that there should've been a goal kick before he had the chance to do that? I didn't know that!

There were a few City players standing near the tunnel watching their extended tour of the touchline after the final whistle, which I suspect sank in rather more deeply than the immediate goal celebrations with the crowd. All teams would do that; but only the deluded morons would continue it into a full-blown lap of honour after the game had ended, plus then publicising the dressing room stuff.
But with hindsight, we can only thank them.

Have another look at the final 2 mins of that game. I'm pretty sure the ball was rolling over the goal line for a goal kick and what would have been the final whistle just as Marcin launched himself into their player.

Still quite hard to watch those last few minutes, but no – they had a corner, from which he charged out to assault the fella. The ball was nowhere near the goal line. But who cares really, the rest was history in the making... (y)

You're not alone!!
I wouldn't blame anyone for having hazy memories of that stressful lunchtime!

I remember it well. Our neighbours must have wondered what was going on in our house with the level of obscenities

I still say KS had to come for that free kick. Last kick of the game and I would be telling my defenders to get the faaack out the way as I'm coming for it.

The ball did indeed run out of play as I recall. Would the Arsenal player have got to it had he not been assaulted by Wasyl? I don’t know.

What people need to realise is that no matter how bad we felt that day, Arse 'n' all ended up feeling a zillion times worse. Which actually made it all worthwhile. A positive, even.
