Leicester

Interesting video that. Shame he didn't carry on from Welford Place toward Greyfriar's. Might have had a different experience of the city centre.
Made me think of my last visit to Liverpool. Some amazing buildings. But I've never seen so many beggars in a city centre.
Sad how all of our city centres have faded and how society is becoming less fair.

In a shock to nobody, a walk around St Matthew's (Leicester's ugliest estate) shows pockets of littering, deprivation and diverse demographics.
It's always been one of the worst areas.
Yet a bloke walks around with a camera and people acknowledge him, some stop to speak, things aren't perfect...
Liverpool has some seriously bad estates. Some of the worst.

in my honest opinion it went downhill about 96, when the council moved in the serbs and kosovans next to each other.

It may have always had a shitty reputation but I never had any issues on the estate until the 90's.

It's good that you had better experiences before 1996, but I can't imagine that was universally the view of residents.
It was and is a poorly designed housing estate.
Has been a blight on the city centre for decades, preventing proper investment to the immediate surrounds.

I think courts is on about the community and values, not the shite design of the estate..

The residents have all moved on, because of the way it became a dumping ground for less and less desirables.
There are still a few dotted about who have dug in and still live there from my days as a kid.

The design was initially going to be used as a satellite estate, cheap homes for people who would commute to work.

It was a haven when compared to the Mowmacre style of flats.
