Leicester population ravaged...

I requested the same info from CCC and although it was higher in 2020 than previous years it wasn’t too much higher than 2016 or 2017 I remember. Book club was gonna do the same but never posted anything
And weren’t you lot one of the first to be locked down in 2020 coz it was rife in your area?
Don’t worry, the usual suspects won’t reply to this.
Shrunk up their own arse again

They usually base it on a 5 year average because of anomalies (2015 is quite high).

Taking this the average total for 2015 to 2109 is 3150.
Total for 2020 is 3130.
Also,
As I have explained before, measurement by calendar year is erroneous. All depends where the 'flu season' falls.

2017 + 2018, two flu seasons, 6052 deaths.
2019 + 2020, two flu seasons, 5780 deaths. (No flu season in 2019, two in 2020)

Not sure that makes sense. Why no flu season in 2019?

Anyway, the figures don't seem to support lockdown measures.
Afternoon Club Book.

Flu season is the the period that a virus, often though not always, influenza passes through the population causing a measurable increase in deaths, mainly in the elderly and infirm. Happens virtually every winter.

Thats the point, it happens in the winter, and winter straddles 2 calendar years. in the winter of 2018-2019 the flu season occurred early with the bulk of its effect in 2018. No flu/virus in early 2019 and in the winter of 2019-2020 the virus (covid 19 in this case) arrived late and occurred in 2020.

In the winter of 2020-2021 there was an early season that happened before Xmas, hence 2 distant seasons in the calendar year of 2020.

Conflating 2 different viruses, naughty, naughty.
Why?

Each winter we had a 'flu/winter virus' it varies from year to year, sometimes it is a nasty version of influenza, sometimes SARS-Cov-1, or SARS-Cov-2 or something else, it doesn't matter what you call it, prior to 2020 it was just 'winter flu'.

The point is that this is the mechanism that drives the 'season', we are discussing when this 'season' happens the agent is irrelevant.

There is nothing out of the ordinary in uk deaths that is not explained by the above posts. Everything else is propaganda.
