Leeds V Ipswich

The Leper of the board.
Ideal result Saturday is surely a Dirty Leeds Win, yes they may close on us (temporarily), but it potentially means us pulling away from Ipswich.

Ideally a draw but if not an Ipswich win please.

I want as much distance between us and 3rd place as possible and if Southampton overtake Leeds that’ll bring a smile to my face.

The target is and always will be promotion, until that is mathematically secure. The title will be the icing on the cake.

I'd prefer more of a cushion come boxing day

why would that be better if promotion is the #1 aim?
a draw or piswich win.
I want us well clear of both when the window opens, more chance of signing the quality players early that we need for next season.
Yes promotion if important but I reckon that’s effectively nailed on already, let’s destroy the division and get the most points, most goals and leave everyone else miles behind in the wake of HMS Pisstheleague.

We need the biggest gap to third as possible.

January will be tough, losing two of our best performing players (fatawu and n'didi) and having no strength in depth up front. If mcateer can be fit we can cover fatawu, but praet will never be fit so who covers n'didi? And who to play upfront?

Get through January ok and then I'll focus on the title, rather than promotion 😁

I'd be surprised if we can do too much of that in the next window without some going out (and for profit). I've said before I expect a couple to come in but I think they will be with as much as an eye on strengthening for the 2nd half of this season rather than in preparation for whatever may come next.

Always cautious I am not there yet (and, besides, it worries me that you say this as you have history of going foolishly early with such pronouncements - see post-Spurs at home last season). We should be good enough to see it through, the division is so poor, but we're not there yet by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm with Adumass on this, getting through January ok (including the busy Christmas period) will be key. I think that following his injury holding Cannon back is as much about the recognition that he will be needed in January as it is about recovery from injury. Personally I think Ndidi's passing is often shocking, his shooting worse but it is undoubtedly true that we are better with him, he is key to the way we go forward and he'll be missed.

There are some causes for concern within games; we've coughed up chances throughout the season but we have started to get ragged again at defending set pieces. Also we are being matched fitness wise at the end of the games more. At the moment though we're still head and shoulders better than the rest (and, yes, a few halves of football aside I am still enjoying watching us).

I really hope Praet does stay fit, I think he's a useful player to have available.

Let’s see what occurs on Boxing Day. We’re undoubtedly in a very good position now. Leeds had to win yesterday more than Ipswich, the same as Leeds down at our place. Now Ipswich need to win more than we do on a day we are usually pretty lethargic.
