They were given their chance and just assumed that their existing levels of service would be adequate, it was only when they saw the gravy train leaving the station that they realised they'd dropped a big one

Keep in mind that most of the manufacturers of PPE are not UK based and there was a world wide panic to get product, the UK stockists were simply unable to get supplies, in one instance a Chinese manufacturer offered to buy back their products at twice the sale price.

The Government do not come out of this smelling of roses but there are a lot of people within the NHS supply chain who behaved like arse holes and now they're trying to blame every and anyone they can

though I suspect that given the lack of transparency the more likely event was that suppliers not going through Government representatives were probably not even told of the "VIP lane" or if they were aware of it, how to get on it.
I'm a bit late to the reply...but as already stated your suspicions are 100% correct. It was not known that there even was a VIP lane.

If it were, many established suppliers of PPE are on record as adding they world have tried to access our, if they had been aware.

I've can only speculate as to why it was never publicised....

Such a strange response. You preface every response with "I'm not defending the government" then do just that.

Established suppliers are on record saying they had the means and ability to fulfill PPE contracts, but simply weren't even aware of the tendering process.

You then blame those companies for not tendering, saying they were given the chance (even though they are on record saying they weren't).

You talk of a gravy train - so acknowledge there was one - but simultaneously say it wasn't corruption, it was chaos and a worldwide panic and the ends justify the means. It can't be both those things.

Finally you blame the NHS supply chain, even though there are multiple public records (available thanks to the dogged determination of anti corruption groups) of emails from the procurement teams telling the ministry of health that the process wasn't right, the companies they were told to use weren't right, and the prices they were paying weren't right.

I genuinely can't tell if you're simply posting from a position of ignorance (despite multiple links to stories that have done the research) or if it's just a Pavlovian response to any criticism of your boys? This is a huge scandal and waste of your money, and you keep minimalising it.

A perfect precis of what's going on in this thread. Those 'Righty's' on here with a modicum of shame are keeping their heads down.

Do people other than tax dodgers have Russian friends?
Are all Russians bad people?

But you are quite correct tax evasion is both illegal and immoral and the loop holes need to be closed to limit tax avoidance also
Rephrase that ,tax dodgers , and the Tories Russian friends.
