Keep The Faith Soulie Tunes

Elsie, have you ever heard of Jalen NGonda ?

I hadn't until this morning when l came across one of his songs on Spotify.

Have a listen tell me what you think, best new singer and writer I've heard for a long time !

every song of his I've heard is good.
Yes - bought his album a couple of months ago - it’s great. He’s on the Daptone label who have a reputation for retro soul music. At the same time also bought Thee Sacred Souls on the same label.

His album is fantastic. He's American but resides in Liverpool, or studied there.
I saw him live recently, & am going to the Roundhouse to see him next March.
l sent it to my cousin, who knew all about him. Said he first heard him a on Craig Charles's show.

Quality, l might try a get there.

Bnet - Went to see Jalen N'Gonda at the Roundhouse last week. He was superb.
Did an 80 minute set and was banging them out one after another. Clearly a talented musician and the sound he and his band produced was outstanding - retro soul at its best.

He's on at Moseley on the a Sunday

I was there too, a stunning gig.
Moseley looks good value on the Sunday, both Jalen Ngonda & Ezra collective

Yes Mostly Jazz looks great for the Sunday which sadly I can't make. There on Saturday to see War though.

The way Jalen started his gig at the Roundhouse, doing his first four songs in about 15 minutes, I was thinking he'd only be able to fill about 40 minutes. Great voice, great sound - bits of Marvin Gaye and Smokey Robinson in there.

A mate of mine likes to be there when the doors open so he can be right at the very front.
He does get some great pics though
