Jiminez

I agree with the comments on the BBC feed, how can the Arsenal medical team allow Luiz this to continue? He could have serious concussion or worse.

100% daggers. Absolutely bizarre in these times that they allowed luiz to carry on.
Jiminez looked a fractured skull all day long.

You have to have some sympathy with the Arsenal medics – they must suspect that Luiz is likely to play better with concussion, and couldn't resist checking their theory

Similar thing happened to a mate of mine in a game. He said he was fine and carried on. About 20 mins later collapsed and was frothing at the mouth. Luckily the ambulance was quick and he was OK. His brain had swelled up. The Dr said he could have died of he wasn't treated so quickly.

Whenever there is a really bad injury incident in a top level game we are all quite rightly shocked, however, these type of injuries also happen in local football with a lot less assistance available.
I recall back in the day Hinckley Town had a really bad injured player and he couldn't be moved an inch, the game was suspended and an ambulance had to go over the pitch to the injured player. Fortunately the pitch was not a mud bath for that game.

Very true. And poorer painkillers in the bag too, I'm told.

Reminds me of one amusing incident at my local non-league club a few years back. Home player got a boot in the face, blood everywhere; (female) physio ran on to treat him; took one look and promptly fainted; opposition physio had to run on to revive the home physio; the player gushing blood had to sit and wait his turn! :D

The most excruciating injury I can ever remember reported in the local York leagues was a goalie for Stamford Bridge who used to help hook the nets on to the bar by shinning up the posts. One week he came a cropper and ripped open his ball bag on the way down.

We were pissing about one day as kids hammering 6 inch nails into a tree ready for us to climb, my mate slipped and drove a 6 incher straight through his hand, we called 999 and both the Ambulance and Fire Brigade came, poor bastard he reckoned the pain was crucifying.

That was Tim Bailey I believe

Wolves Manager acted with complete class. No finger pointing, no blame game. Wonder if other managers would have handled it that way.

I must admit I was a bit surprised that NES didn't go over to the incident. Yes, I know some will say that he was leaving the medics to get on with their work etc, but I was.

Reminds me of the Ian Humle injury. Will he be able to head a ball again? I’d have thought the fracture would make the skull weaker

Don Goodman was on Sky Sports News earlier and he said it makes the skull stronger.
I will bow to the expert medics.

Got whacked in a Sunday league game . Crawled off pitch - no attention . Hobbled to me car about 500 yards away and drive myself to A+ E. where broken ankle diagnosed and plastered up .
