Jesus coming to Leicester ?

“Jesus” came to Leicester with Cardiff in December 1969 and again in October 1970. He had lots of “disciples” with him too!

“If Jesus came to Earth today, they’d crucify him straight away, upon a cross of MDF, and they’d use No Need For Nails” (c) N.Blackwell

he supposed to have had a kid bag with a sawn off in it !! Kids believed these stories !
Talking about it with Micky only yesterday when I collected my Cup Winners bus. Micky’s mate pulled on his beard at Cardiff away and got away with it because “Jesus” thought it was funny. He was a big ‘owd’ unit though!

We played them away early in 1969 in Division Two after we had been relegated under O’Farrell. The funniest thing was when hundreds of us came out the train station and ‘stormed’ Cardiff Castle just for the laugh before they could slam the gates shut on us. Then we thought we had “taken” the Grange End,at Ninian Park,up until about 2.30 when the “trains from the valleys” had arrived with their mad lot and it was absolute mayhem and carnage after that!
We took the lead through an own goal and then John Toshack scored for Cardiff and it finished 1-1. Further ‘mayhem’ after the game on the way back to the Station!
