James and Happy Mondays

I saw both James and the Happy Mondays at a day festival in Colchester last weekend.

Sean Ryder didn’t sing at all, he just spoke. A couple of his songs he was reading the words and to be honest Bez and the new female singer Firouzeh (Bez’s misses) carried the whole performance. They are getting worse and worse as a band.

On the upside, James headlined the day and they are getting better and better every time I see them. Their range of vocals, of music, of songs is incredible. Tim owns the stage and always engages the crowd well.

Do go and see James if you get a chance.

As for Happy Mondays? I wouldn’t bother.

Not a James fan but heard loads of good reviews.
Was going to see them a few years ago in Scarborough but COVID happened.

Always worth watching. First saw them in '85, and honestly think that they've been much better since reforming. Unusually, they've been reformed for longer than they were formed. Can't say I particularly see what the two birds add, but I guess it'll make touring a bit less same-y.

Saw James play a nightclub in Manchester around 1990 ish. Absolute scenes, as the kids would say.

Big fan of Tim Booth.

Always thought James were underrated.
Never seen them live but they do look good imo.
