I’ve just bought tickets to a gig this Wednesday…

DagenhamFox

Blue Roofer
At Camden Roundhouse, A Night for Ukraine to raise money for DEC.

The line up is yet to be released but it will include music, poetry, film and more.

There’s still some left if anyone fancies it? They’re on The Roundhouse website. £25 each to stand.

Is that the place you can see from the train just before it pulls into Euston?

Thought it was. I have never been there. Went to the Dagenham Roundhouse a few times when it was a top place. Average White Band in the summer of 1973 was one of my remembered highlights. It cost top dollar to see them again at Birmingham Odeon a couple of years later!

I’ll meet you outside Wainfleet’s ticket office at the back of the bus station and hand over your money in a plain brown envelope. Is Desmond Dekker still alive ,I’ll take two in the stalls if he is?

i remember when we all went to the swan, yardley to see dd, all of a sudden sparrow rip, appeared in the bar with his usual goons( including the giant with ginger frizzy hair and eyes like daktari) and started his gobshite until he realised there was a coach full of hinckleh, shilton and barrell lads there, exit stage left very quickly...great days

The line-up includes the likes of Martin Rossiter, Sleeper (acoustic), Andy Bell (Ride/Oasis), Dodgy, James Acaster, Starsailor (James Walsh), Michael Legge, The Subways (Billy Lunn), Salad, Edie Bens.

Then an after show party will feature Star Shaped (Indie Disco) plus a special guest DJ.

just asking,b53, was it you and click who nicked his crutches off him in the west end?...
The police took us off the terraces and lined us up at the back of the West End and me and Johnny Holder looked further down the line and Sparrow’s mate that Hatchet lad was sobbing his eyes out. Thought he was gonna get knicked. In the end they just threw us out the ground onto the street and all the Cov ran off as usual!

It was round about that time when Kev Mortiboys got shot in the neck by a West Ham fan with an air pistol at the bottom of the Spion Kop stairs as we were leaving. We took him up to A&E to have the pellet dug out!

His younger brother Dave Mortiboys was a tough nut too. He fell from the top of a tree when we were kids on Britannia Road Rec,hit about 8 branches on the way down (which probably saved him) and hit the ground with an almighty thud. And he just stood up laughing.
Years later when he worked for the Gas Board he got blown out of a trench when a gas pipe blew. He survived that an all!

Anyway don’t go to a gig with anyone named Mortiboys it’s far too dangerous!
i think dave rode for cov bees at brandon, kev was wearing his steel toe capped work wellies when he was shot,he rubbed his neck and went charging into the hammers fan, hard family, neighbours to the hewitts on holt road--- anyhow back to sparrows crutches- i remember seeing one used in the after match riot to knock the police sign off the roof of a panda car- guilty ?
