I've found something we seem to agree on.

Milk! Fucking milk. Who'd have thunk it!

So, while we're on this dairy topic, whats the best alternative milk for coffee? And is it true that these oat milks and soya milks are packed full of sugars? The vegan cheeses I've used have been tasteless so I don't think I'd bother with replacements. Give us your findings on the alternative lifestyle.

So how many veggies and vegans do we have on the Roof? Who's starting to grow their own fruit and veg again? Who drinks unfiltered tap water?

I don’t like to put labels on it, but I have not eaten meat for 18 months, and cut out loads of dairy.

Will never drink cow juice again.

Milks good for you.

Remember that’s what we were told and the media wouldn’t lie and try to fill us full of shit.
The government even have laws limiting the amount of puss in each pint.

I don't understand why vegans don't eat dairy, it's not as though you have to shoot the cow to get it

Then they’d be vegetarians.

Less cows, less methane, less land used for both cows and the feed they require.
More trees planted, less Co2.
Plus we’d all be healthier and less inclined to obesity.
Some very tasty plant based burgers available nowadays, probably rammed with salt and sugar though.

I am Vegetarian, my wife is vegan I eat eggs or I would be Vegan. Do not miss meat at all. The thought of eating dead flesh or killing a sentient being seems sick to me now. But if others do it I understand there choice , no judgment or need to convert anyone.

I didn’t eat meat for a fair few years (don’t eat that much now), was tiring having to listen to meat eaters saying ‘I bet you miss a bacon sandwich’. Yet it’s the veggies that bang on apparently.

All for veganism having become popular, makes life so much easier when on holiday.

Would miss fish the most.

Not sure that salt is that bad for you? It contains iodine ( or used to ) your body does need it. Nobody had more salt than my mum trust me? She died at the age of 97.

I went vegan(ish) about 18 months ago for health reasons, wanted to reduce fat intake and lower cholesterol. I don't miss bacon sandwiches. I do miss proper cheese but Violife is OK. I use oat milk, although it curdles in coffee unless your put it in before the hot water. Some lovely plant-based burgers and I still eat fish occasionally, even chicken if i go out for a curry. Quorn is a good product, especially the mince if you make a Chilli con carne, the pieces are good in a stir fry. Jackfruit is a good pulled pork alternative.

I've since found out I don't have the health problem I was told I did but haven't gone back to meat.

Imagine how the jews and muslims feel.

I don't trust quorn.

I find Oatly (the full fat version) best for coffee, although I only drink fresh coffee (percolator or cafetiere) and always warm the milk. It's also fine in tea (not warmed). I don't know about the sugars I'm afraid.

I've been surprised how little I miss cheese - I don't eat the alternatives that often but have found them ok - mainly get Morrison's own brand and Violife 'parmesan', and have recently found a smoked applewood which is good. I'm told there are specialist non-dairy cheese shops but haven't investigated.

I don't describe myself as vegan but my fiancée is and we don't have any meat or dairy or eggs in the house (other than for cats). We don't look too closely at wine labels though ...

Don't the plants used to make milk alternatives use land?

What about all those farting vegetarians converting plants into methane just like the cows do

If it's green it's gone off

That’s why you have to research which milk you use, soya for instance uses far more water than oatley.
Meat eaters don’t fart?

One of the reasons I gave oat milk a go rather than soya was that we grow oats in this country so hopefully less transport miles (or whatever) and income for UK growers. Luckily I preferred the taste as it turns out.

I checked it out. there are a few sites showing comparisons and oat milk is best in terms of environmental factors.
