It just shows our clubs rank stupidity

Another what-if in a season of trying to somehow blag survival. Only started 4 of the last 18 games after the injury at Wrexham and only one of the last 7 after the injury sustained playing for Wales (you know, the one that wasn't as bad as first feared). I would say that, without being a medical man, it is easy to say with hindsight that he should have been pulled when the injury first appeared at Wrexham instead of trying to leave him on but didn't look great at the time. Mind you, I wasn't convinced Rowett knew how to use him anyway.

It;s a measure of the season that every player loaned in showed up the rest for pretty much everything. and the real problem of a negative dressing room culture that GR thought he could coach them out of. And now must be dismantled

Don't agree with this, most of our loanees were abominable and that includes Lascelles who I thought had the knowledge and experience to help save us. The wasted money and time for the loanees would have been better spent bringing in a decent striker and working with our younger players. However JJ was the exception. A great loan deal with the potential in place to become a mainstay at City for the next decade. And we fucked it up!!!

Lascelles wasn't a loan, it was a short term contract as Newcastle released him, but I take your point.

Aribo was a waste of time and money

Richards was a waste of time and money

Mukasa made the odd contribution here and there

Just to add to that list -

Aaron Ramsey - some rare (very rare due to being on the treatment table most of his stay) flashes of being useful but overall a waste of time and money

I think you could see he'd got quality but unfortunately for him & us his body just ain't up to it.

And to add to that further to that list...

And not forgetting Carranza of course, didn't show anything is his few appearances so again a waste of time & money.

Selected means in the matchday squad, taking the place of a youngster and potentially playing.

JJ selected 34 times a top two player for us - incredible success.
Carranza selected 20 times - so bad we didn't even keep him past Christmas despite Ayew being the alternative
Mukasa selected 16 times good 2 or 3 early on, then poor, worse than that his loan stopped Louis Page's progression - below average loan
Aribo selected 13 times - useless, total disaster
Ramsay selected 10 times (over the complete season) good occasionally but mostly injured and a waste of squad and coach/physio time.
Richards selected 10 times. Why? Silko, Bade, Monga dropped for him to sit on the bench, better to have an U23 striker on the bench.

Lascelles selected 12 times (won 1 when he never left the bench) useless. Kevon Gray may as well have gained experience.

We had great loanees in Kevin Campbell and Gerry Daly. One saved us from relegation the other helped us to promotion. JJ did neither but he will be remembered with great affection. And with a song that is something else. Thanks for the memory.

But after due deliberation it would'nt have mattered who we had in on loan, the actions of the rest of whatever side that was picked
had fundimental problems with attitudes and poor performace levels never seen before from a team and management it was insulting to football as a whole and to its followers of this great Club.

I don't agree. If we had got a half decent striker we'd have stayed up. There is no understating how woeful Daka and Ayew really were.

Striker wasn't the issue prof. We scored enough goals. It was individual errors from the keepers and defenders which ultimately did for us.

we can deliberate till the cows vome home but the result was in effect mo-one in particullar just a collection of poor team.play with little help from coaching and a clear plan of play. That suited playing staff

If you still can't see that it was a collective spineless feeble shit-show – on and off the pitch – that got us relegated, you really should go and sit in a dark cupboard without internet access. For ever.

Strikers had been an issue the entire season, but we created very very little anyway under Marti & he was bailed out by fatawu & James.
Creating chances vastly improved under rowett, but again having no strikers was a huge issue & rowett didn’t have the luck of having James available for the majority of his tenure.

Totally agree Filbo.
Due to ongoing fuck ups at the back we were always 1-0 down before we started.
we had to score at least 2 every game before we started.
chuck in strikers who can't score regularly and it's a fuck up.
The blame for all this is firmly at Top & Rudkins feet.
Mainly Top.
Top can't see it though.

When your striker continually misses the goal from inside the 6 yard box, or more often the ball, then striker is the biggest problem. A true striker in place of Daka/Ayew WOULD have meant we stayed up. Everyone made individual errors, they were spread across the entire defence and midfield, replacing any one of them (except Winks) wouldn't have made so much difference. In fact we proved that by changing the players regularly and still making the mistakes.
