It could be all over for the tooon

Know a few Geordies, great supporters, best in the league infact
They will win at the Kingpower in a couple of weeks 😁

I personally believe we have great fans especially the ones I've got to know over 50 plus year's. And I don't believe that gives any club a divine right to where they end up in the league!! This love in with Newcastle amazes me??

I agree. We have great fans.

Newcastle has an urban population of 879,996 and an average crowd around 50,000. So 5.7% of the population.
Leicester has an urban population of 508,916 and an average crowd around 30,000. So 5.9% of the population.
When we average 40,000, with the new ground expansion. We will be looking at 7.9% of the population attending.

I know these figures are crude and people attend games from way beyond the urban areas. But it is still interesting to note.

Burnley is remarkable. 181,030 population. Average crowd around 20,000. That's 11% attending.

Remember too we’re affectively a two club city in terms of support. Don’t the Tigers get around 25000 each game. Yes it’s different but that’s what makes us a great sporting city and county

Actually Burnley only has a 2021 population of 88000! So even more remarkable. I know they’re easily the smallest town to ever grace the PL amongst the 55ish clubs to have done so.

I used Burnley's urban population, rather than the town one.

It is a good point about the Tiggers.

Newcastle don't have a competing large fanbase as far as I know. Talking about Tyneside, rather than Tyne and Wear.

They may well have the money to "buy the world in January", but if they're still in such a precarious league position in Jan, I think they may have trouble getting quality players to join...

They’ll get big loanees I suspect. But they could be way behind by then. Their 6 December games include us Man City and United plus Liverpool.

Just caught a snippet on TS this morning…. an ex prem player saying it wasn’t somewhere he would have wanted to go as it’s too far north

That’s always going to be their long term problem and result in paying over the top in wages.

From experience northern fans are much more passionate than us in the midlands.
My first visit to Sunderland (Roker) struck me because the roar at the kick off was louder than when we scored at Filbo...

Been to Sunderland a few times over the last 50 years, can’t recall any “roker roar” mind you, can’t recall many Sunderland goals while I’ve been there.
