Is 11 points enough ?

To see is through the AFCON and injuries and back to the Premier League ?

I see our bigger threat as being Southampton because Leeds will lose games like yesterday and Ipswich is a small squad and already showed signs of fading.

Nah....
We've played everyone once now, and with AFCON absentees the second half of the season is going to be a lot tougher.
HMS Pisstheleague, will have a few rough seas to negotiate before it safely docks.

We aren't the only team losing players to AFCON in the top 6 and i think our deeper squad will see us through nicely.

But we're loding more than Ipswich, Leeds and Soton combined.
We're going to lose daka, nacho, fatawu, ndidi.
Which ones of those based on comments from everybody here are we actually going to miss. in order i'd say
fatawu
ndidi
nacho
daka

We're really losing only 2 players that matter, and we've got good enough replacements for them in the squad.
I'd be worried about losing winks or faes more than nacho or daka.

Iโ€™d sooner lose Iheanacho than Daka.

Fatawu has only been included in the provisional squad of 55 players, this will be reduced to 27 players on 3rd January, Chris Houghton the manager of Ghana watched him play against Rotherham which wasnโ€™t his best game and he was also subbed.
He is hardly a regular in the international team having only played one game in 2023, so theres a good chance he wonโ€™t make the final squad

Reverse psychology.
If we are worried about losing them, then what a boost when they return.......๐Ÿ˜

Hopefully, Doyle is back soon and also McAteer

Wonโ€™t miss Nacho as heโ€™s a useless lazy work shy caant but will definitely miss Wilf and Daka if only for his ability to run in the right direction now and again.

This 'deeper squad' myth is mostly an illusionary load of bollocks.
Half of them couldn't see a sunday morning parks game 'through nicely'.
We just have to be 'deeper' than the opposition for 5 weeks.
Of course what we really need is a proper striker in the jan xfer window.
We're top of the league whilst playing with what is effectively a false #9 this season because none of vardy/daka/nacho are really up to it.

I'm sorry but to say Vardy isn't up to it is a slight injustice. He is up to it but Father Time has caught him up. What we need is a mini season burst from him where he defies the odds, stays injury free and 6 weeks of him back to best.

The whole point of our 'system' is that it does not need a conventional 'striker'.
It relies on goals from several players throughout the team. This presents opponents with problems
as threats are shared all along the front line and our 8s arriving to 'flood' the box.
Of course a Haarland would be nice but we are shopping in a more modest market.
I realise it is hard to reform our thinking but we have to trust a system and not individual brillance.
EM's talent is crafting a side and way of playing which recognises our financial limitations.
And also a system which can be used by any player on the staff slotting in as required.

I believe we knew Tom Cannon had a back injury when he had his medical before he joined us. But we knew we would be most in need of a striker in January.
The medics felt his back would be fixed in time for January so we went ahead with the transfer anyway.
If it comes off its good planning.

It also helps in my humble opinion that Enzo was a U21 coach, so all the homework he did for that team on potential risks, players to mark etc would benefit us down the line as he knows the market

Why isn't Mavadidi going to Africa Nations Cup?

I didn't say why he wasn't up to it, just that he isn't.

is this wishful thinking of a self fulfilling prophecy?
I don't think we have a weak #9 spot by design.
Are you sure he doesn't want a top quality striker rather than just 'making do' with what he's got?

Wishful thinking?
It's all from EM's mouth, and he should know.
Your designation of a 'number 9' suggests you still don't get it.
System, system. system.
Positional fluidity to use another term...
