Thanks, I'm not going completely daft then, thought I remembered a very bored looking Tiger.
They built amusements too, we had a Wicksteed mountain glider in Shilton Rec until the suede denim police of Hinckley Council thought to themselves 'someone could be killed here, rip the fucker down'. It stood there for 35 years without incident, apart from Dave Branno trying to surf down it whilst high on shrooms, he was alright after a couple of days
 
The log fume was a health and safety car crash.

There was a spinning cylinder where you used to stick to the wall and hover above the ground. Someone was always sick.

There’s an identical water chute ride in Scarborough also built by Charles Wicksteed about a century ago.
 
NASA used Wicksteed Park to train for both the Gemini and Apollo missions. I remembering watching the Navy Seals diving into the pond to bring up Buzz Aldrin after the ‘chutes failed to open as the skip came down the water slide.
