Yes. Definitely no problem with cash in exchange for favours, using a publicly funded seat of office.

Politics are corrupt, possibly always have been, particularly so in modern times.

And, you know what, I didn't much care. As long a their was a way for ordinary people to live their lives, improve them if they could and be, by and large, free of government interference and restrictions, that was fine by me.

The last 20+ years has fucked that up beyond all recognition so we are now where we are.

No. For many people it was not fake, perhaps they had limited aspirations but within that it was freedom by any rational standard.

Corruption in politics has always been with us, as a pragmatist it is something that I am prepared to live with if it allows people to live a decent life. The massive, quite overwhelming corruption of the last few years really is something else though, the destruction required to fix that would be biblical, still no guarantee that life would get any better.

Shooting from the lip here, really not something I have thought that much about. Too busy enjoying my life and 'freedoms'.

Even now I could live with it if the ability to travel was back to normal, everything else I can deal with.
