Greatest series of all time

For me, it's a toss up between The Sopranos & The Wire.

The Sopranos kick started the revival of excellent TV drama series we continue to enjoy today, only back then you couldn't binge. 1 episode a week 10pm Sunday night( or was it 9pm?) , Whatever ,a complete game changer of a series.
The Wire, 5 series each one tackling a slightly different topic & each one brilliant, with a fantastic set of characters. Series 4 set mostly in the schools edges it for me.
& Who knew Idris Elba was English in real life?

Honoury mention to Our friends in the north. I loved that series.
Christopher Eccleston, Daniel Craig & the lovely Gina McKee....a fantastic drama.

West Wing

Auf Wiedersehen Pet ,1 & 2 only, and Breaking Bad.
Murder In Mind was great too - wish they'd make some more.

Elizabeth R starring Glenda Jackson as the "Virgin Queen". With Robert Hardy(Earl of Leicester)Ronald Hines(as Cecil,Lord Burghley) and Stephen Murray(Sir Francis Walsingham). Vivian Pickles as Mary,Queen of Scots. Brian Wilde(Porridge,Last of the Summer Wine) with a really dark and sinister portrayal of the sadistic Richard Topcliffe.
Recently repeated(all 6 episodes) on BBC 4 to mark it's 50th anniversary from 1971.

With you on them too being the best 2 sho

The Wire takes it for me I think.
I love all of the series but 2 and 4 maybe stick out as both feel very different.

Frank Sobotka an underrated character. Union man. Man of the people 😄

Series 2 was good, for some reason a fair few people didn't rate it , but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Series 4 was by far the best though.
& I like the way you say series & not season.

4th was absolutely brilliant at character development.
And yep Seasons run from August to May and have nothing to do with TV 😅
