Give it up Roy.

Don't understand it myself, why would a coffin dodger want to put yourself through that? He has had his time, been at the very top of his profession and must have been financially secure years ago. Time to rest up, slippers on, nice cardigan and enjoy doing you want to do. Average life expectancy for a UK male =78, plenty go before that, enjoy....

I once worked with somebody who was on the verge of being sacked due to poor performance. She went on sick leave with stress, presumably reasoning that they wouldn't have the heart to sack her while she was off sick. She was right: they waited and waited, and when she hadn't returned from sick leave after a year they offered her a very nice package if she agreed to a mutual parting of the ways. So she had a year off on full pay followed by a very decent payout. Smart lady.

Must've been hard for her to gain employment in a similar role after?

A bit of a drug to them.
Colin still wants the challenge and he can't be far behind Roy age wise.
I watched him in the game against Chelsea and thought he looked hashen faced. It really is time for him to ride off into the sunset

[...] and enjoy doing you want to do. [...]
It seems being a football manager is what he enjoys most. Or cannot let go. Sometimes it is a very fine line between the two but I do understand people who don't see their job as a profession but a calling they want to follow until they pop their clogs.

Edited to say I've just read this on the BBC:

Supporters have displayed banners in recent weeks calling for Hodgson to be sacked and shared their frustration with how the club is being run.

They voiced their displeasure when he substituted Eberechi Eze after 64 minutes in their FA Cup third-round defeat against Everton last month, with some supporters at Goodison Park chanting "you don't know what you're doing".
That must be hard for him. He saved them countless times, and now he's close to being hounded out.

Thought he saved them twice at most?

He's 75 so no, not far behind. A drug it certainly is.

£2m a season or whatever he’s on probably helps make the decision for him. I’d do the same for that kind of money.

Surely the physical demands are not that great, so if his illness is a physical one it makes little difference whether your working or at home.

He looked very unwell even after his last stint at palace ended. I know footballs a drug & all that but just watch it from a spectators view surely at a certain age.
