Football Programmes

I would love to see a report on my first game.

Leicester 1 Liverpool 1........1975.

I'm not sure if Keegan scored the Reds goal and Keith Weller equalised late in the game.

Weird that there were two 1-1 draws against Liverpool at home in 1975. Sounds like you mean the other one. Here you are mate:

I'd just checked it out and I was wrong on both scorers.
Toshack for the reds assisted by Keegan.

Leicester's was Wortho not Weller.

I did remember the goal being late (74th minute )

Thanks for posting that Wints.

See Kushiro's post too

Fascinating thing about that Arsenal Reserves game (as well as Bloomfield being in their team, which soupsandwich mentioned) was that it was David Herd's first game against Leicester. He hadn't played for their first team yet, but he soon would - his debut was a month later, against Leicester. Come May 1963 we'd be sick of the sight of him.

OMG I was right, that 2nd game was exactly what I thought.
Keegan and then Weller with a 84th minute goal.

Thanks Kushiro, yes that was definitely my first game.
I was nearly 10 years old.
My dad took me up the steps to the old Wing Stand. The amount of fans, the atmosphere and the lush green pitch was exhilarating.
Never forgot it.

Does anyone have a match report of the cup game v Exeter in 1981 please. Reckon it was possibly my first match as a 7 year old if my memory not playing tricks on me reckon our goal was scored very early in the game by Martin Henderson. Just have a memory of my dad saying we scored too early

Got programme from all of City’s games at Wembley apart from 1949 Cup Final, and many many more games. Included in my stash is City v Notts County 22.09.1956, my first ever game at Filbo.

There was a period of time back in the day when an annoying “supplement” number of pages were stapled into the middle of a lot of the official club programmes. None of it worth reading and added I suppose to bulk the thickness so you thought you were getting more value. I can’t remember the name of this wretched added abberation?

Ha! They were truly sh*te - really summed up the attitude of the club towards the fans.

Though having said that, going further back, the Football League Review was really good - apart from that stupid 'sauciest footballer' lark that used to take up so much space.

It was published in Leicester, wasn't it? By Harry Brown, who then became an FL employee. Wish I knew more about all that. Anyone in the know?

If mem serves hendo got ours and delve equalised

A couple of other unusual things that I have buried away somewhere are:-
1) when I was a nipper my mum would occasionally take me into Leicester when she went shopping, the trip would always end with having something to eat at the marvellous Lewis's department store restaurant. One day, prior to the 61 cup final, we went in there and lo & behold all the City team were there having a meal. I had that afternoon just bought a cup final glossy souvenir booklet & I got it signed by all the players.

2) I have the booklet that was given out at Filbo & I assume all other clubs grounds, with full details of how to apply for tickets for the 1966 World Cup

I have the programmes from 60-61 to 69-70 (all homes and virtually all aways) on a shelf in my office at home.

If anyone knows how to get their hands on more of these binders, please let me know.

Remember it well, we lost the replay 1-3 Tony Kellow had a field day. For some reason also remember some of their coaches being dismantled in the cattle market.

There have been listings for the binders on ebay and other sites and I think the original manufacturers still produce something similar...

I'm sure there are much cheaper options out there though.
