Fast Falls The Eventide

mickyhoss

The music was thud like.
Abide with me, fast falls the eventide
The darkness deepens Lord, with me abide
When other helpers fail and comforts flee
Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me

Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day
Earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away
Change and decay in all around I see
O Thou who changest not, abide with me

I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless
Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness
Where is death's sting?
Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Thou abide with me

Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee
In life, in death, o Lord, abide with me
Abide with me, abide with me

Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee
In life, in death, o Lord, abide with me

Spine tingling.

Come on Leicester!!!

Abide With Me makes me feel emotional every year...but this year is off the scale. Not a dry eye in our house I predict....

Shades of Nessum Dorma all over again...(although in truth I was in tears as he came out of the tunnel....way before he started serenading us)

Never been to a cup final (started supporting us in September 1969).
Vowed I would never go till we got there.
Can't wait to sing Abide With Me.
Come on you City boys

Thanks for the lyrics, I've printed off the hymn sheets to get everyone singing along in my back garden fanzone at 5.05

i went to the FA cup final in 79 and 80.
There's nothing like hearing close to 100k people singing it in unison.
Hopefully the 20k tomorrow will make it sound 5 times as big.

Let's hope they've all taken a copy of the lyrics from the programme, there's numerous versions out there.
Last years missed about three verses out and wasn't what's printed this year.

I've printed out Micky's. I hope they're right.
But the mayflies on a Berkshire trout river would probably tell you a different story
