I've seen both of you have a good knowledge of German football, I'm taking in the Bayern v Benfica game on 2nd November, never been to Munich before, any tips, info , do's and dont's etc would be appreciated. Cheers chaps👍

I'm not too familiar with Munich myself but I would certainly try anything related to the Augustiner brewery, for example:

Augustiner Bräustuben
About fifteen minutes walk from Munich central train station. Located in the historic brewery. Probably the best brewery and lager beer in Munich.
There's also a more central Augustiner place, the Augustiner Stammhaus

I can also personally recommend

Schneider Bräuhaus München
Serves the full range of Schneider Weiße wheat beers from Kelheim, one of my favourite German breweries. Good, traditional Bavarian food, too.

I have recently been recommended

Nürnberger Bratwurst Glöckl am Dom
Sausage dishes from Nuremburg, serves Augustiner beer from wooden barrels

Not related to food or beer is the

Deutsches Museum (German Science and Technology Museum)
It's well worth a visit but you need to make time for it (you can easily spend a day there).

There is also a FC Bayern Museum
I have never been there though, and I have absolutely no idea whether it is worth a visit.

If you narrow down any particular fields of interest of yours I'll try to find more.

The weather is probably not great at this time of the year but the current forecast says it's going to be dry.

If you’re into WW2 history ( with respect to Swabianfox) I’d recommend a visit to Dachau.Great museum. It’s a sobering visit but very interesting if you’re into this kind of thing. It’s on the S2 line if I remember correctly and just 30 mins from the main Hauptbahnof ( station) in Munich.

What a wonderful synopsis of all good things Bayern especially beer and food. Having lived like yourself in nearby Swabia
( it’s a bit like the rivalry between Yorkshire and Lancashire) I must say you’ve made me think that a visit back to southern Germany is on the cards when all this covid shit is over. Vielen Dank

I've got two full days, did consider doing the Bayern museum, good eating and drinking recommendations are welcome 👍

There is probably even more in Munich related to food and beer, Hofbräuhaus for example, and Spaten might have a couple of places, too. In any case, the above are places I'd either like to visit myself or can recommend.

I haven't been to Dachau myself, unfortunately. Auschwitz was hard to take though.

In any case, I've drawn up a framework for a little Bentleys Roof Germany guide for EURO 2024. At the moment, it's not much more than the list below but I hope I can fill it with content over the next few years, so that everybody from Bentleys Roof who fancies following england in 2024 has a few stops in every city that's hosting football matches. As I said, I'd love to draw on your (@LGFOX and @DagenhamFox ) experiences as I'm not familiar with every city in Germany. I'll be in touch when the time comes...

A bit busy with work, Stagman - but some bullet points till I have more time.

Sausages, kebabs and pizza are top notch!
Munich has lots of universities and therefore is full of students. Beware.
Unless there are girls in your immediate company, you will not be allowed into bars.
Dachau and Auschwitz were hysterical, I never laughed so hard in my life :ROFLMAO:! :ROFLMAO: (check out the gift shop)

more to come when I get off my shift

The Pinakothek der Moderne is the (very good) German equivalent of the Tate Modern. The curry wurst beats a Balti pie.
