Fancy Another Bout Of Div 1?

I wouldn't mind.
That season 2008/9 was one of my favourite ever seasons.
Great away days out I still remember like it was yesterday.
Orient
Colchester
MKDons
Brighton (even though we bolloxed it up)
Northampton
Millwall
Peterboro
Southend (the best ever away day!)

That was the way to get your club back!
Well done to the MOF!

Can it happen again????

And lets not forget the pre-season "friendly" away to Kettering!!!!!
Scenes there I'll never forget - like the barmaid with no knickers in the Beeswing!

It was only fun because we had a championship squad in L1.
We could be Bradford if we have to sell all the slightly less shit players.

Did you go to Peterborough that day? We were in the away end and the weather was awful and the result was even worse

Of course I went.
Why else would I have put it up on the list?
I just remember it as a great day out.

Hereford was a good away day as well.
Orient, Southend, Mk (apart from missing the Gradel goal) and the rest were all magic..
Cheltenham though was a disaster!! Car broke down on the M5, RAC took 2hrs to arrive, by the time he got it sorted it was bloody half-time. Just drove to the Tewkesbury exit, turned round and headed home!

Brighton was that dark, I ended up with milk and sugar in me bovril and black coffee. Whole new culinary experience.

I didn't enjoy it nor losing there 1-2 in 2013 if I recall right. Ironically our best result there in recent years was when we fielded a mostly reserve side in the FA Cup and won 5-1. I did enjoy that living locally and fed up with Posh fans taking the piss.

The football was shit pretty much every week if we’re being honest.
It’s just rose tinted.
Watching Matty Fryatt put his one out of every six sitters away against farmers every week and being lauded like he was Alan Shearer.
If the trips weren’t interesting it would be looked upon as a tedious year I think. A forgotten novelty mind is being able to turn up and buy a ticket at the turnstile on the day which perhaps died for us that season.
It was fun but not really for footballing reasons.

Never. Wasn't that the season when we started without a shirt sponsor?
Didn't they "deliberately" play all season without a shirt sponsor to celebrate 125 years (never really understood why that is a significant anniversary).
Still got the shirt, unadulterated by any sponsors cheap adverts. One of the best. Badge centre like the classic admiral kit of the mid-70's.

Look what's happened to Brighton since. Too foggy to see any of the goals. Railway siding walkway. Temporary stand. And bloody cold.
I can remember a steward trying to convince a youth he couldn’t smoke in the stand, whilst standing in the middle of a field!

Can't agree that any Admiral kit was "classic". They mutilated the truly classic England strip. For us the 73-75 kit wasn't bad and not too fussy. Then they started adding bra straps and logos all over the place making it hideous.

Unusually, I never went to one away game.
It was embarrasing to be there. Like 'the big shots in town; feeling.
But it was 'the 'big shots who failed' really.

I enjoyed that season, but largely because we were winning most of the time and went straight back up. It was like a holiday in Blackpool - fun as a one-off, but you'd never want to go there again. If we ended up back there in the next few seasons, there's no guarantee it would be the same. We could end up staying for an extended period, which would be the stuff of nightmares.

I have great memories of that division 1 season, Cheltenham, Orient, Hereford, Southend were my favourites, Peterborough away was not enjoyable but we thrashed the Posh 4-0 at home just before Christmas 2008. Who would have ever thought that seven years later our Leicester would win the Premier League title!

I loved the Hereford trip. Nice hotel, fine ale, sunshine and a win. The Oldham trip was not so good. Nearly froze to death.
