Published by the Mirror (£3.50) decent read..City in it twice Wycombe and Newport, surprisingly no mention of Harlow town, for me the worst defeat of the three.
Sounds like the book not that well researchedPublished by the Mirror (£3.50) decent read..City in it twice Wycombe and Newport, surprisingly no mention of Harlow town, for me the worst defeat of the three.
Was at both games against them. To give it some context, at the time Harlow were playing at the same level as Quorn, Anstey, Shepshed and Loughborough students do now step 4. !!That harlow one was the worst for me. going into school and having the piss ripped out of you. Still hurts.

Yep they got late or last minute equaliser , I was in east stand next to their fans who went wild , missed replay, cash needed for Luton notts and others and work was dodgy at time , and yep they got beat as you say at Watford 4.2 or 4.3 was it. Tongue in cheek we concentrated on leagueRadio Leicester did a predict the score for the Harlow home game.
Most were going for us scoring about 6,7 or 8.
Someone rang in and said just 2-0 to Leicester.
I thought what a twat we'll hammer them.
It finished 1-1
That was the most diabolical thing about the Harlow tie.
Once in a blue moon the minnows play out of their skins and get an unlikely result, but rarely do they succeed when the 2nd game comes along.
It truly was probably the most embarrassing result in our history.
Credit to Harlow though who then gave Watford a decent go in round 4, if memory serves they lost 4-2
1986 at the old Eastville ground..forgot about that one lost 3-1, supermarket there now. Was working in the area soon after, the owner of the guest house was, as luck would have it..a Rovers st holder !! Took some flack.Bristol Rovers was my personal *favourite*. Players looked as happy to be playing in the incessant sleet as we were standing exposed to it.
Paper tickets!...they were the daysHere's a few old tickets I've had framed from over the years.
That was my first thought too. That harlow one was the worst for me. going into school and having the piss ripped out of you. Still hurts.
Yet another close call was back in 2000 against Hereford United, lucky to get a 0-0 at Edgar st and scraped through 2-1 at Filbo..In that 1979/80 Isthmian League - Premier Division, Wycombe finished 10th and Harlow 11th.
Another close call was Leatherhead, who finished 18th.
