EMR!

EMR are between a rock and a hardplace these days, they have to hand back their Meridian class trains as they are coming off lease, however, the new Evero's are late being built by Hitachi at Newton Aycliffe, and when they do get delivered they have all sorts of snags meaning they are unable to carry passengers some of the time.
It all goes back to when we lost St Pancras to the Europeans, to enable the East Mids platforms at STP to fit in 2x 5 car sets the coaches had to be constructed shorter than existing Azuma type trains which the Evero's are based on, and that shortening has not gone very well.

Thought so.

Nearly all are 5 sets which can be doubled up, there are 2 or 3, 7 car sets still I believe. The Meridians are going to Scotland to be used on Glasgow/Edinburgh to Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee etc.
Also a few sets going to Lumo which will run a Stirling to Euston service from next year, the good news it will stop at Nuneaton, north and southbound.

Yes, well of course we knew all that, but still it's a bit of a rum do ain't it.

They no longer have seat reservations and you need to get there at least 30 minutes early to actually be allowed on the train.
Last time I actually had a seat reservation they still wouldn’t allow me on despite playing the cancer card.

Any idea where else it will stop between Stirling and Nuneaton?
